Amanda Warfel: Pennsylvania Woman Pleads Guilty To Having Extremely Loud Sex

In Pennsylvania, Amanda Warfel’s “loud sex” conviction may be enough to quirk an eyebrow or two. The woman, whose relationship with her neighbors can most politely be described as “strained,” has pleaded guilty to antagonizing her neighbors by having exceptionally noisy sex, USA Today is reporting.

So loud were Warfel’s ecstasies that the noise shook a neighbor’s dresser and bed, according to the original criminal complaint against her.

When you live in communal housing such as an apartment building or, in Warfel’s case, a row house, you have to get used to sounds coming from your neighbors’ homes; kids gamboling about, doors closing, and so on. But you’re also expected to use common courtesy and keep the noise to a minimum.

Warfel was having none of that, neighbor Tanya Saylor told the York Dispatch in April. Saylor’s teen daughters sleep in a bedroom that shares a wall with Warfel’s bedroom, and she says the two girls have had to put up with all manner of noises – not just loud sex, but loud music and racial epithets.

“It’s been almost two years of it. It’s been pretty terrible…. She just makes life a living hell. It’s got to stop. [The girls] don’t sleep well at night. There’s constantly inappropriate things that go on in [Warfel’s] bedroom.”

When Saylor tried to complain, Warfel, rather than doing the neighborly thing and vowing to keep it down, instead took things to the next level. She started getting racist (Saylor’s husband is black, and her kids are biracial).

“She starts calling my children n*****s and monkeys, and offers them bananas. It was a daily thing.”

In January of this year, things got even worse. One of Saylor’s daughters who has been battling cancer for several years, had to undergo a round of treatment and had to spend 10 days isolated in her room while she recovered. Saylor says that during her daughter’s recovery Warfel deliberately engaged in loud sex in her bedroom, “making sure [the daughter] heard.”

In February, Saylor finally had enough and called the cops – something she says she should have done a long time ago. State police filed charges of ethnic intimidation, harassment and disorderly conduct, and taken to the clink.

On Wednesday, Warfel pleaded guilty to a host of charges connected to the case. She was sentenced to 45-90 days in the lockup, then given credit for time served. As of this writing, however, Warfel remains in jail on unrelated charges.

Warfel’s defense attorney, Mike Fenton, said that this was simply a case of neighbors who couldn’t get along, and not a criminal matter, saying there was plenty of blame on both sides. He also noted that, in Pennsylvania, simply calling someone racist names isn’t enough to warrant criminal charges – there has to be some sort of malicious intent.

“The facts of the case do not legally meet the standard for an ethnic intimidation case,”

Now that the neighborly dispute has escalated into a criminal matter, it seems like Warfel has finally seen the error of her ways. At her Wednesday sentencing, Warfel said she wanted to apologize and put the ugliness behind her.

Saylor’s kids, for their part, seem to have also forgiven and forgotten. Saylor says her 9-year-old son still shovels snow on Warfel’s grandmother’s sidewalk because he doesn’t want the elderly woman to get hurt.
