Alex McCord Says ‘Real Housewives’ Is To Blame For Cast Mates Divorces

Nobody is denying that there have been quite a few divorces associated with the Real Housewives franchise, and Real Housewives of New York has also had more than its share of failed marriages since the show started, but former RHONY cast member Alex McCord is making a direct link between the show and the end of marriages. McCord says she cannot understand though, why anyone would choose participating in a reality show over the survival of a marriage and a family, and has called the other RHONY crazy.

According to The Inquisitr, Bethenny Frankel is a member of the RHONY that got married, had a child, and got divorced during the run of the show. Bethenny Frankel took a leave from RHONY, but came back this season to once again do battle, and be a spoiler for the women of RHONY. Bethenny Frankel was one of the original housewives, though at the time, she was not a wife or a mother, but she did know Alex McCord, and was on the show with her. But Bethenny Frankel made no secret of her dislike of McCord’s husband, Simon Van Kempen, and McCord had finally had enough and moved with her family to Australia.

The Daily Mail says that Alex McCord, formerly of RHONY believes she made the right decision leaving the show, and moving to Australia. Alex, husband Simon Van Kempen, and their two sons are currently living on a farm in Byron Bay, New South Wales, and is studying psychology while Van Kempen runs a small law firm. Alex and family were on RHONY for four years. But Alex says that she is happy with her decision to leave, though most would acknowledge that she was fired in 2011.

“All the women who stayed on the show have lost their marriages and their family.”

“Why would you ever give up your children and your husband for crazy women?”

When they were on RHONY, Alex and Simon lived in Brooklyn and claimed that they couldn’t even imagine living in the suburbs, but now they live in a rural area of Australia, near Van Kempen’s entire family.

But Alex, who claims that her time on RHONY is only helping in her psychology studies, has a pretty good argument for saying that RHONY ruins marriages and families. Countess Luann de Lesseps and her husband, Count Alexandre de Lesseps, divorced in 2009 after it was found out that he was having an affair. Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy seemed to start divorce proceedings soon after their marriage, and Ramona Singer’s divorce just became final, after news of her husband Mario’s cheating was splashed across papers everywhere.

Entertainment Tonight says that Alex McCord, who has shunned the media in recent years, has called the women of RHONY “crazy.” Alex says that the only other woman from the original cast who is still married is Jill Zarin, and she also left the show with her marriage to her husband Bobby intact. Alex claims that at the time, she thought she was having fun on RHONY, but in retrospect, not so much.

“The funny thing is when I look back and remember the parties and events, and they look so glamorous but they never are. It’s not very glam in real life. Anyone who has had that life would understand.”

Reality Tea said that though Alex seemed to really enjoy the spotlight, since she left RHONY, she has shunned media attention. But this week, Alex showed up on the Australian morning show, Sunrise to ponder why anyone would choose RHONY over the happiness of their family.

Something says that this won’t be the last the world hears from Alex McCord.

Do you think RHONY is a curse for marriages? Does Alex McCord have a point?
