TWICE: K-Pop Girl Group Praised For Professionalism For Performing ‘Cheer Up’ And ‘Like OOH-AHH’ In Heavy Rain

Often times in the K-pop industry, acts perform outside of their tours and music competition variety shows, often for promotions or endorsement duties. Sometimes, the conditions in which they have to perform are less than satisfactory.

One such condition is performing outside during heavy rain. The elements not only cause potential harm to the K-pop acts, but it may make the stage they perform on dangerous too. Sistar, for example, had an incident on a slippery stage when Bora fell down and broke her thumb. GFriend takes the crown for performing in unsavory conditions as they performed “Me Gusta Tu” on a slippery stage, which caused both Yuju and SinB to fall down eight times, causing a video of the performance to go viral, and recently they performed a cover of Fin.K.L.’s song “To My Boyfriend” during a heavy rainstorm.

GFriend, a six-member K-pop girl group signed to Source Music, received plenty of attention and praise for professionalism when they performed their song “Me Gusta Tu” all the way to its end on a slippery stage which caused members Yuju and SinB to slip and fall eight times. There is one silver lining when it comes to performing in such conditions for K-pop groups, and that is getting praised for professionalism if they finish their set. GFriend is a true testament to this fact as their praised professionalism during their performance of “Me Gusta Tu” made the song their breakout hit. Now Twice is starting to get such recognition as they were praised for performing “Cheer Up” and “Like OOH-AHH” in the heavy rain.

The performance took place on Friday, July 1, when Twice performed for the special special 10-year anniversary of Cultwo Show, as reported by Soompi. There was a heavy rain which endangered Twice’s members’ personal health, but also their well-being as any of the girls could have slipped and fell, and possibly have been injured. Nevertheless, Twice performed to the very end, singing their hit songs “Cheer Up” and “Like OOH-AHH.”

As seen from the attached videos above, all the girls of Twice who were able to perform — Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu — were soaked from head to toe. Jeongyeon was not available due to her injury. The situation could have become a dream come true for many male fan of Twice, given the fact most of them were wearing white. Fortunately for them, their attires did not give anything away.

It should be noted that, Twice’s participation on shows and performances now most likely has no link to any form of promotion of their past two EPs (better known as mini-albums in South Korea), or of any rumored upcoming projects. Page Two, Twice’s second EP, can technically be promoted, but given the EP’s release date being late April, it is at its tail end.

Beside the aforementioned, individual Twice members are partaking in solo endeavors or partnering to take on a specific career task, specifically for variety shows. For example, Jihyo and Tzuyu were on Happy Together, while Momo and Chaeyoung were on The Show. Prior to her injury, Jeongyeon was doing master of ceremony duties on Inkigayo, and was a participant on Law of the Jungle. As for a variety show, when all the members of Twice made an appearance, they were on Running Man recently to participate in the popular name tag game.
