Katie Holmes & Jamie Foxx Fear How Tom Cruise Will React To Their Romance?

Is there trouble in romance paradise for Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx? Katie, 37, and Jamie, 48, have been confirmed as members of the Hot New Couple Alert list, but their fears of how her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, might react are preventing them from true happiness, according to Hollywood Life’s insider.

Holmes and Foxx initially were the subject of continuous speculation that they were secretly dating. And now that their romance is confirmed, the new question is just how Cruise, 53, might react.

“It is not all rosy,” revealed the insider, “They have very real fears of Katie’s ex, Tom, and his reaction.”

That fear was one of the key reasons that Holmes and Jamie sought to keep their romance a secret, as well as their desire to stay out of the media in general.

“That’s a part of the many reasons they prefer to keep their relationship private,” clarified the source.

“Photos surfaced of Jamie and Katie holding hands and it kind of freaked them both out. Since then, they have worked extra hard to keep their love out of the public eye.”

Thus far, Tom has made no public acknowledgement of the new romance. However, the concern that Katie and Jamie feel is also due to how it could impact the daughter shared by Cruise and Holmes. Because of her new relationship, Tom is alleged to have sought custody.

Foxx has his own children, but if Cruise presses the custody issue, it could create problems. Adding to their worry about having their romance out in the open, Foxx and Holmes are concerned that the additional publicity might harm their personal and professional lives.

“Jamie and Katie respect each other’s careers and don’t want any extra attention to adversely effect their work,” added the source.

As for how Foxx compares to Cruise, E! News points out that Katie’s romance with Tom took place in a very different era. They began dating and subsequently became engaged the same year, 2005, in which Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston split.

Every aspect of the relationship between Holmes and Cruise, dubbed TomKat, was on display. Their engagement and wedding, as well as the birth of their baby, took place amid a whirlwind of publicity. And when Tom proposed at the Eiffel Tower, he shared every detail with journalists mere hours after the event.

“Yes, I proposed to her. It was early this morning at the Eiffel Tower, so I haven’t slept at all,” dished Cruise. “Today is a magnificent day for me; I’m engaged to a magnificent woman.”

Tom shocked even the usually unflappable Oprah Winfrey by jumping up and down on her couch to proclaim his love for Katie.

“I’m in love! I’m in love,” screamed Cruise. “I can’t be cool. I can’t be laid-back. It’s something that has happened, and I feel I want to celebrate it. I want to celebrate her. She’s a very special woman.”

When they wed seven months after the birth of Suri Cruise, the ceremony in Italy at Odescalchi Castle attracted Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, and Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy.

But TomKat went their separate ways after six years, divorcing in 2012. That signaled a new attitude toward publicity for Holmes, who stayed private and protected Suri from the public as well. She subsequently explained that she did not want her relationship with Tom to dictate the way that she was perceived, clinging to her career as an actress to define her.

“I don’t want that moment in my life to define me, to be who I am. I don’t want that to be what I’m known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now.”

Katie and Jamie met while she was still involved with Tom. In 2013, rumors that Holmes and Foxx were a couple began to swirl. However, the two sought to keep their relationship out of the public spotlight and avoid photographers.

But it was his pal Claudia Jordan who finally broke the news that Foxx was dating Katie.

“He is very happy with her,” revealed Claudia during the Allegedly podcast. “I like that he seems very happy.”

Although she subsequently tried to retract her statements, insiders confirmed to E! News that Holmes and Jamie are dating. The lovebirds do not try to hide their relationship from friends but do plan their romantic meetings so that they can avoid publicity, including separate cars.
