‘American Horror Story’: Finally A Little News About Season 6

For all the American Horror Story fans who have been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for some news on what Season 6 may hold, we got a little news today. Two pieces of news actually. One is the awesome new logo! Check it out!

It’s popped up on all the American Horror Story social media accounts, right on the heels of more good news straight from the mouth of Cheyenne Jackson. Out magazine recently interviewed the actor we came to know and love as Will Drake in Season 5, American Horror Story: Hotel, and he revealed that he will be returning for Season 6. Cheyenne sings as well and has just finished a new album titled Music of the Mad Men Era. When asked if he would be touring for the album, he said that he does have a few dates lined up but can’t actively promote it right now because shooting for AHS is currently taking place. He shared that he was already a fan of Lady Gaga before acting with her on American Horror Story.

Jackson talked about the emotional experience of acting as it compares to singing and said that emotionally American Horror Story is “just different from anything I’ve ever done.” As much as he’s looking forward to another season working with Lady Gaga, who has already been confirmed as another returning actor, there was no getting him to reveal what the new episodes of American Horror Story may hold. Will it be even darker than it has been before? “Just different. You’ll see.” Yes, but not soon enough.

American Horror Story was a big change for Cheyenne. Mostly known for his roles on Glee and 30 Rock, horror was a new genre for him. So what does he think?

“It’s been fun to be a part of this horror fantasy world. Sarah Paulson told me early on, ‘Get ready for the passion and the fervor of American Horror Story fans. It’s intense.’ I love how passionate, opinionated and into this world the fans are.”

Also returning for Season 6 is another fan favorite, Angela Bassett. And E! Online has reported that at PaleyFest showrunner Ryan Murphy shared that children will be somehow involved, saying, “If you look at horror tropes, the innocence of children, that sort of wide-eyed entryway into some world is always very dramatic and satisfying.” He has also shared that they’re trying something new.

“We’ve been working on two ideas at once, which we’ve never done, so I don’t want to say what it is. But…it will have a different form than we’ve ever done.”

But back to that logo? Is it a hint at another theme of the new season of American Horror Story? Is the number 6 a hint at a 666 theme? A devil theme? Demons? The Antichrist? Some think so, but FX and Ryan Murphy are being very tight-lipped about it all, so we won’t know until the fall. Sigh.

American Horror Story has aired on FX since 2011. It’s an anthology series with the same actors returning for multiple seasons in different roles. Each season of American Horror Story has had a different theme. Settings of previous seasons have included a murder house, an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show, and a hotel. The show has won two Golden Globe awards. One went to Lady Gaga in 2016 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, and one went to Jessica Lange in 2012, also for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
