Ben Higgins And Lauren Bushnell Are ‘Worried’ Their ‘Bachelor’ Spinoff Will Ruin Their Relationship

Bachelor fans haven’t seen the last of Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell.

The two reality stars are launching their own spinoff series this fall, Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After. Will the new series put their relationship in jeopardy?

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bushnell admitted that they were worried the new show would put a lot of stress on their relationship.

“I’m not worried now. Now, we’re totally fine with it, but at fist, when the idea was presented to us, there was some worry there,” she stated.

The couple was initially worried because of everything that played out on The Bachelor between Higgins and the other women.

“My and Ben’s [television] experience had obviously been on The Bachelor where it was a great experience, but there was also a lot of emotions there from him dating other women,” Bushnell continued. “It made me worry if those emotions were going to be similar [on this show].”

According to E! Online, the new series will not include a lot of pre-planned outings and over the top dates. Instead, the show will simply track the couple as they plan their upcoming wedding.

Speaking of their wedding, Ben Higgins revealed that they haven’t set a date and are not ready to discuss kids, at least not yet.

“We’re not even married yet so we’ll focus on the wedding right now. Obviously, the first step for us would be to set a date and then a location and all that,” he shared.

Fans can, however, expect to see the wedding televised. In fact, Bushnell is open to sharing the ceremony will all of her fans.

“Then, of course, I don’t think either of us are opposing to having our wedding shown and I think it would make sense to show some of the planning that’s going to be happening and hopefully let everyone see our wedding,” she explained.

In the meantime, Bushnell is not afraid that the new show will ruin her relationship with Higgins.

“You hear a lot about a reality TV curse or whatever, and I think most of that just becomes from the relationship then not being first because there are so many distractions around,” she stated.

“Nothing is going to get in the way, and it if does, we’re going to have to reevaluate at that time. Those reservations have calmed quite a bit. But at first, yeah, we were nervous because anything that could be a distraction for us is obviously a concern, but…we feel good about it. ”

In addition to the wedding storyline, the new series will focus on Higgins’ decision to jump into politics. Higgins is currently eyeing a spot in Colorado’s House of Representatives, though he has yet to officially announce his campaign.

“Most of my life I’ve been interested in the issues that are surrounding the areas that I live in, the things that are affecting the community, and also just being involved in a community,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “Those things were all focuses of my life before The Bachelor.”

While Higgins and Bushnell gear up for their own reality show, his Bachelor runner-up, JoJo Fletcher, is currently starring in The Bachelorette. Although they haven’t watched Fletcher’s season yet, Bushnell admitted that she stays in contact with Fletcher.

In fact, Bushnell is good friends with Fletcher, and they text each other all the time.

“I don’t know who exactly she’s with or if she is with someone,” Bushnell said. “We also talk about things other than The Bachelor. There is a friendship there.”

Fans can watch Higgins and Bushnell return to action when Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After premieres in October on Freeform.
