‘A Star Is Born’ Remake: Will Lady Gaga Play The Role Of Esther In The 2017 Production?
The newest remake of A Star is Born is one step closer to becoming a reality… maybe. According to Variety, Lady Gaga is in talks to play the role of Esther aka Vicki. If all goes well, Bradley Cooper will be more than pleased.
In addition to Cooper co-starring with Lady Gaga, this particular reprisal of A Star is Born will mark his first attempt at directing a film. It will be produced through his production company 22 Green. Billy Gerber, Basil Iwanyk, and Jon Peters are slated to assist him.

Beyonce bowed out of the role due to a scheduling conflict. But, Beyonce’s bad luck seemingly turned into a fantastic opportunity for Lady Gaga. At this point, there has been no word from Warner Bros., regarding negotiations with the pop superstar.
Since Beyonce’s decision to refuse the part in this A Star is Born remake, Bradley Cooper has met with dozens of actresses in hopes to quickly fill the role. Lady Gaga was reportedly high on his list of contenders.
In the event you’re counting, this is the fourth time A Star is Born will hit the big screen. The first time was in 1937. According to IMDb, William Wellman’s film told the tale of Esther Blodgett and Norman Maine. She was a rising star. He was an alcoholic. His musical career was quickly going down the drain.

The first remake, starring Judy Garland and James Mason, debuted in theaters in 1954. The movie grossed almost $15 million in the U.S. alone. In 1976, North American ticket sales of the second remake of A Star is Born grossed $80 million. Barbara Streisand played the role of up-and-coming singer Esther Hoffman. Kris Kristofferson played the role of fading rock star John Norman Howard.

Back to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. It’s interesting to note that IMDb already lists Gaga and Cooper in the leading roles. Could that be a clue about things to come?
Clint Eastwood is responsible for suggesting that Bradley Cooper produce the 2017 remake of A Star is Born. Eastwood attempted to get the film going for several years. He wanted Cooper for the role of the aging rocker.
Because of Cooper’s involvement with Eastwood on the film American Sniper, he landed the directing gig for the upcoming remake of A Star is Born. Deadline reports, the project will cost roughly $30 million to complete.
Lady Gaga may have made the decision to star in the movie as far back as early May of this year. It was then that the paparazzi snapped photos of her on the back of Cooper’s motorcycle, holding on for dear life. The pair had a dinner date that evening. Was contract negotiation on the menu for dessert?
If, in fact, Lady Gaga does reprise the role of Esther in the A Star is Born remake, the soundtrack is sure to be phenomenal. She already won a Golden Globe award for her acting talents relating to American Horror Story. There’s absolutely nothing stopping her from winning awards in relation to A Star is Born.
