Marrying Britney Spears Is ‘Overwhelming,’ According To Kevin Federline
Kevin Federline has revealed that he’s done talking about his marriage with Britney Spears. But that didn’t stop her former husband and backup dancer from talking about her in a new interview with VLAD TV obtained by ET Online.
“Obviously, things didn’t work out the way they were supposed to. But everything’s OK, you know, life happens.”
Kevin said that he met the pop star through mutual friends at a nightclub. The two immediately hit it off even though Kevin was married to Shar Jackson, who was also pregnant at the time. Kevin also addressed the constant backlash he received from both the media and Britney’s fans for dating the pop princess.
“That was a whole different lifestyle than I ever imagined. I mean, just getting around from place to place and having 20 people follow you all day long – your whole life being told through somebody else’s eyes. Everybody wants to put their own spin on it. We like, were caught right in the midst of that whole thing. It was so crazy. I look back at it and it’s like, at times it was so overwhelming.”
Federline and Spears, 34, married and went on to have two children, Sean Preston, 10, and Jayden James, 9. Then three years later after their headline-making marriage, Spears filed for divorce. She wasn’t the only one who had a hard time after the divorce. Federline recalled the time he felt about their shocking and sudden split. However, he did not reveal what caused them to go their separate ways.
“That time of my life, there’s so many different, like, pieces missing because of everything that was going on. That was at the, like, height of everything and you’re thrown into this thing and you’re thrown into that thing and the in-between stuff. I know it happened. I know why it happened. That’s pretty much all that I’m going to say.”
Kevin spoke candidly about Britney losing custody of her sons during her breakdown in 2008. At the time, it was known that he was receiving $20,000 per month in child support, but he says that it’s “definitely not anything to brag about.” Kevin said that he wanted to save the kids at the time of Britney’s breakdown and made sure that they had a good life growing up. The exes now get along and are both hands-on with their children.
After Spears’ 55-hour quickie Las Vegas marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander was annulled in January, she decided to move things forward with Federline on Sept. 18, 2004. Spears hasn’t been married since, but she was once engaged to Jason Trawick. The couple ended their relationship in January of 2013 after four years of dating.
Since then, Britney has been linked to Charlie Ebersol and David Lucado. Nowadays, the singer has been enjoying the single life while performing at her ongoing Las Vegas residency at the Axis in Planet Hollywood. Kevin even has had his own contract set up in Sin City since December, 2015.
According to TMZ, the budding DJ now earns $10,000 per show at the Crazy Horse III Gentleman’s Club. The report claims that Federline is currently under contract at the popular strip club, in which he will spin records for four to six times per year. Federline has since taken to Instagram to share several photos from his new nightclub, even one that shows him surrounded by a group of strippers.
