Demi Lovato Clarifies Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande Shade: Claims Mariah Is ‘Nasty’ For Bullying Jennifer Lopez

Demi Lovato left Mariah Carey’s fans furious last night after insinuating that Ariana Grande was a much better singer than the “We Belong Together” hitmaker.

It all started when an Instagram user posted a meme of Mariah and Ariana with the caption, “when you order it online vs. when it arrives.” The famous saying is usually applied to online shopping for clothes; when something appears great online but looks horrible in person is what is trying to be alluded here between Mariah and Grande.

Demi Lovato weighed in by commenting, “You got it the wrong way around honey,” strongly insisting that Ariana Grande is what one sees when they purchase something online while Mariah is the one that people usually are disappointed with when it arrives.

As confusing as it sounds, Demi Lovato was evidently throwing some serious shade at the legendary singer, who is known to be the best-selling female artist of all time.

To nobody’s surprise, Mariah’s fans hit back at Lovato, questioning the “Confident” musician as to why she would intentionally make snarky comments aimed at Carey, stressing that she probably hasn’t even met the 46-year-old to insinuate that she’s musically a cheaper version of Grande.

“Mariah is a legend and is so talented but constantly disses people. It’s nasty the way she treats Jennifer. Ari did nothing wrong,” Demi writes under her official Instagram account, insisting that Carey’s bullying behavior towards Jennifer has made her react the way she did on that particular meme.

Demi Lovato claims that Mariah has been nasty to Jennifer for always claiming not to know her whenever the pop star’s name is brought up in one of Carey’s interviews. Let it be known, however, that the “It’s Like That” songwriter has never trashed Jennifer other than the fact that she openly claims not to know Lopez, which is shady in itself, but far from nasty.

Lovato says that she doesn’t like the way Mariah has been treating Jennifer Lopez, but what puzzled other social media users was when Demi added, “Ari did nothing wrong.” Carey’s fans were confused as to what exactly the singer was getting at — is she trying to say that Mariah has made comments about Ariana that people don’t know about?

All in all, when Mariah doesn’t want to talk about somebody, or perhaps when she has nothing nice to say about a particular person, she’ll brush it off by saying she doesn’t know who they are. And while it may seem shady, fans seem to agree that it’s better for the songstress to say that than actually make comments that could be considered offensive.

Some of Mariah’s fans seem to think that Demi Lovato is only trying to get her name back in the news since she has a tour to promote, which is expected to kick off later this month.

The Honda Civic Tour, starring Demi and Nick Jonas, is heading for its North American run, and several people are suggesting that the tickets must be selling very slowly for Lovato to seek some kind of attention to get the buzz going for her forthcoming concerts. How she could think that this move will translate into ticket sales seems rather strange.

Do you think Demi Lovato is overreacting by insinuating that Mariah’s supposed bullying behavior towards Jennifer is nasty and uncalled for?
