Norman Reedus Wants To Star In ‘Ghost Rider’ Reboot, Premieres New ‘Riding With Norman Reedus’ On AMC

Norman Reedus wants to play the lead in a Ghost Rider reboot. Considering Norman’s busy schedule with The Walking Dead and Ride with Norman Reedus, his dance card is looking a little full right now. Is it possible that Marvel might consider a reboot with one of the most popular TV actors showing interest in the role?

According to IGN, Marvel reclaimed the movie rights for Ghost Rider in 2013. The big-screen version of the comic book hit starring Nicholas Cage came out in 2007. A reboot of the iconic Johnny Blaze character played by Norman Reedus would be pretty sweet. It only helps his case that Norman loves to ride and is known for being a motorcycle aficionado.

While fans wait for Marvel to see the beauty that would be Norman Reedus in the lead role of Johnny Blaze in a Ghost Rider reboot, they can still enjoy their The Walking Dead hero on a motorcycle. Ride With Norman Reedus premieres tonight on AMC. There are only six episodes in the premiere season of Norman’s new motorcycle reality series. In it, Reedus is expected to take his fans on a wild ride, showing off tattoo shops, biker bars, and other common haunts frequented by motorcycle lovers.

It’s not like Norman Reedus as Johnny Blaze in Ghostrider would be a huge leap. As the A.V. Club pointed out, Reedus is no stranger to comic book adaptations. Although Reedus’ character Daryl Dixon isn’t a part of the comics in The Walking Dead series, it is a comic book adaptation nonetheless. Norman also played Scud in Blade II, and that film also had comic book origins.

There is also the issue of making a jump from TV to film, but not for Norman Reedus. Although he stars in The Walking Dead and has played Daryl Dixon for six seasons now, Reedus has actively been making movies and has proved himself to be an actor worthy of a title role in a Marvel remake. Norman recently starred in Triple 9 and made Sky just last year. He also played the role of Stanley in Pawn Shop Chronicles, which definitely deserved more attention than it received.

Even though Norman Reedus says that Nicholas Cage did a fine job both times he played the role, that wouldn’t stop Reedus from jumping in as the next star of Ghost Rider. It doesn’t sound like Marvel would have to try at all to get the actor on board. When asked about whether he would accept a run as the comic book antihero with a dark side, Reedus said, “Hell yeah. It would be a blast. Do I get a skull face that’s on fire and all that stuff? F**k yeah. I’m down.”

Right now, reboots are all the rage so what is to stop Marvel from making a Ghost Rider reboot? Norman Reedus is already so enthusiastic about remaking the comic book movie about a man who gives up his soul in order to save his dad. The iconically troubled hero rides his motorcycle at night while shooting out hellfire while his skull is on fire. It’s almost like the character was created for Reedus, and the match-up on screen would be perfect.

When Norman Reedus premieres his AMC reality show Ride with Norman Reedus, it can only make a Ghost Rider reboot starring the popular actor even more exciting of an idea. Hopefully, Marvel will agree that it’s time to remake the comic book classic and put The Walking Dead’s Reedus on the motorcycle from hell this time.
