Chris Rock Blasts Selena Gomez As A Craigslist Version Of Beyoncé
Comedian Chris Rock is taking serious aim at Selena Gomez, referring to her as a Craigslist version of Beyoncé.
Rock took to Twitter to put Selena on blast on June 7, where he appeared to slam Gomez as a second-rate Beyoncé with a meme comparing the two pop superstars.
Writing “this is true” on the social media site alongside the Gomez meme, Chris uploaded a photo of Selena wearing a gold bodysuit during a stop on her Revival World Tour alongside the caption, “when you buy your Formation tickets on Craigslist.”
Formation, of course, is the name of Beyoncé’s current world tour, which currently has more than 50 stops scheduled in stadiums around North American and Europe, while Selena is currently on the road for her Revival arena tour, which has 80 stops around North America, Asia, Oceania, and Europe.

Selena has so far stayed mum regarding Chris’s social media slam, though Rock’s comments caused a serious stir. A slew of Gomez’s biggest fans hit back at the comedian with some pretty scathing messages of their own on the 140-character site.
“When nobody will buy your stand up comedy tickets so you come on Twitter to slander someone more successful than you,” Twitter user @hadidgomez hit back at Chris’s tweet in Gomez’s defense, while @iloveselgo told Rock on the site, “this is literally so stupid im so p*****! I’d go see Selena over Beyoncé any day.”
Selena Gomez fan @BenDadfleck also slammed Chris Rock for his posting the less than complimentary Selena meme online, tweeting back, “shut the f*** up you corny a** b****. You’re only known for being a failed comedian and a f****** zebra in a movie.”
“[Selena] isn’t trying to be Beyoncé,” @stunningselmg added on the 140-character site on June 7 about Gomez. “It’s an outfit…you’re attacking a 23 year old… this is why Kevin Hart ended you.”
Other Selena Gomez social media fans even called out Chris for bullying with his scathing Gomez Twitter post.
“Don’t you dare use the whole ‘I’m a comedian excuse’ comedy is NOT bullying others,” @moonlightmemes told Chris shortly after he uploaded the meme, while @cherrybombbby_ added, “First of all, they are completely different artists. Second, you aren’t funny. Never have been. Never will be.”
But while Selena fans were understandably less than thrilled about Chris Rock’s social media diss, others praised Chris for his Twitter call out.
“So true haha” @demilovatospa tweeted back to Rock, while @mxrkmywordz wrote in reply, “HAHAHAH. THIS IS AMAZINN.”
Although Selena herself is yet to officially speak out about the comedian’s Twitter blast, Gomez did have a little advice for online haters in a 2014 interview with E! News.
“I get picked on by grown adults all the time. It’s grown-ups and I don’t get it. It just baffles me,” Selena said about the hate she receives on social media. “I wish I could just sit them down and say, ‘What were you doing at 15? What were you doing at 18? What were you doing at 21?’ Because I can guarantee you it’s not half of what I’ve done.'”
Chris Rock’s latest social media blast is the latest meme from the comedian to cause controversy on social media in recent weeks.
Just weeks before he took aim at Selena, Rock ruffled feathers on Instagram on April 20 after he posted a photo of Michael Jackson on the photo sharing site alongside the caption, “This is my favorite picture of Kris Jenner.”
