WWE News: Stephen Amell Of ‘Arrow’ Is Being Challenged By Yet Another Big WWE Superstar

Stephen Amell has to deal with more than enough bad guys on his hit series, Arrow, but he’s found that he has a lot of enemies in the wrestling world, as well. Last year, he had a rather lengthy feud with Stardust that ended with a tag team match at SummerSlam. The feud continued for a while on social media, and the release of Cody Rhodes totally ended that program, but it appears as if another WWE superstar has problems with the actor.

WWE superstar Sheamus is starring alongside Amell in the soon-to-be-released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, and they’ll be on the opposite sides of good and evil. Amell is playing the role of Casey Jones, the street-smart thug who ends up siding with the quartet of good guy turtles.

Sheamus is going to play the role of Rocksteady, who will side with the villainous Shredder. Fans will see him in a human form at first, but he’ll transform into the more familiar rhino form later on in the film.

According to ComicBook.com, Sheamus had a lot of positive things to say about Amell and his skills as an actor and in the wrestling ring. On top of that, Sheamus would love for Amell to return to WWE so he can take a crack at him like Stardust did.

“He did a stellar performance at Summerslam. I’d love the opportunity to take him on in the ring! The first time I sat down and met Stephen on set, he surprised me being a huge WWE fan, and so knowledgeable about it for all his life. I talked a bit about what I do, I was like, ‘Oh you know, come off the top rope, this and that,’ then he shows me this video of him doing Parkour, jumping off walls, doing flips, coming down, another flip, jump out to another wall… I was like, oh, I’ll stop talking about myself now. I was pretty impressed.”

In the world of WWE, the League of Nations just recently split up and it had remaining members Sheamus, Rusev, and Alberto Del Rio going their separate ways. With Sheamus out doing the promotional tour for TMNT 2, he was going to be away from the ring for a little bit of time.

Having Amell head back into WWE for a feud with another big-time superstar wouldn’t be a bad idea. WWE could really sell the movie aspect of things and promote it while also bringing in fans of Arrow to their product.

Stephen Amell was able to hold his own in the ring with Stardust last year, and he’s already had to face off with Sheamus, whose real name is Stephen Farrelly. At a recent press conference for their new movie, Amell spoke of having to take some damage from the WWE star.

“I had to be headbutted by Stephen [Farrelly] in the movie, and of all the stunts I did in the movie, including a car whipping by me at 100 miles per hour, that was the most frightening thing by far. I had the good fortune to live a dream for the past year, have a WWE match, get involved, and see what this guy goes through on a daily basis, and he’s underselling his schedule and how crazy it is. Maybe one of these days. The WWE, things can change on a dime.”

Many were impressed with the way Stephen Amell handled himself when he wrestled Stardust at last year’s SummerSlam. It’s not totally out of the question for him to return and work with the promotion again, but some may say that the much larger Sheamus and Amell aren’t as evenly matched.

Sheamus and Stephen Amell are starring in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows together, and their interaction is more of a promotional deal than anything else. Still, Amell has had a working relationship with WWE for quite some time now, and it’s not like Sheamus has much going on in that world at the current time. It’s quite possible that Amell may find himself having another match before too long.
