Whitney Houston Personal Items To Go On Auction At Heritage House

Anyone born after 1980 has heard of the glorious songstress Whitney Houston. A lovely woman inside and out, Whitney captured our hearts with her smooth voice and sweet temperament. While the 1980s were unarguably the high peak of her illustrious career, Whitney Houston was extremely popular and successful right up to the day of her death in February of 2012.

Though it seemed to the normal, everyday person that Whitney Houston had everything one could want, her life was shadowed by a troubled marriage, which ultimately ended in divorce, as reported by People magazine, and drug use. While Whitney wanted to have many children, she and then-husband, singer Bobby Brown, were blessed only with one daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown.

Bobbi Kristina was the light of Whitney’s life, a precious gift from God, and Houston loved her daughter with the fierceness of a protective mama. Watch Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, and the infant Bobbi Kristina below in this Barbara Walters interview from 1993.

From birth, Houston took Bobbi Kristina, nicknamed Krissi, on tour with her, even bringing the child on stage to sing for her audience.

As she grew up, Whitney maintained a close relationship with Bobbi Kristina, continuing to include her daughter in her personal and professional life.

Sadly, Whitney Houston passed away in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel ahead of the Grammy Awards in 2011. Her death was ruled accidental due to heart problems and drug use. Just shy of the third anniversary of her mother’s death, Bobbi Kristina Brown was found in the bathtub of her town home, in exactly the same way her mother was found. Though Krissi did not die at that time, she struggled for her life for several months before ultimately succumbing to her injuries. The true cause of her death is still unknown, though speculations of suicide and murder have abounded since that day.

According to Yahoo, the Whitney Houston estate, which is managed by sister-in-law and friend Pat Houston, has announced they will be auctioning pieces of Whitney’s personal collection at the Heritage Auction House. Pat Houston says this action comes from a desire to “give back” to Whitney fans.

“We felt that it was time to give something of Whitney to the people who loved her and her music.”

Gary Schrum, of Heritage Auctions, had the following to say about the late, great Whitney Houston and her personal effects.

“Whitney Houston, still so widely beloved and venerated today, was the voice of her generation and the most highly awarded female vocalist in history. This collection, lovingly offered by her family and her estate, offers fans and collectors both moving insight into her amazing talent and glamorous career.”

The public auction, slated for June 24 and 25, at Heritage Auction House in Beverly Hills, will feature personal Houston items such the passport from her first international tour, her script from the movie Waiting to Exhale, 1986 American Music Award for Saving All My Love For You, 1993 Billboard Award for top R&B album from the Bodyguard, and much, much more.

This Whitney Houston collection is sure to wow fans, some of whom will walk away with genuine items used by Whitney Houston herself. Though Whitney may no longer be on this earth, her legendary voice and legacy live on.
