‘Dance Moms’ Star Abby Lee Miller Requests Sixth Fraud Case Extension, Reports Detail That A Plea Deal May Come Soon

Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller’s fraud case may soon be reaching a conclusion, but things have not been progressing on the matter according to the original schedule. Miller and her legal team have already been granted five extensions on the case, and now reports detail that they have requested a sixth. However, there are also indications that a plea deal may be coming together soon. What is the latest on Abby’s case?

As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, Abby Lee Miller and her team recently requested, and were granted, a fifth extension in pulling together their case. However, at the time of that fifth delay, the Dance Moms star and her attorneys were told by the judge that a sixth delay was unlikely to be granted and that the judge’s patience was running thin.

According to Deadline, however, Miller and her lawyers have just asked for another delay. The Dance Moms star’s legal team was due to be in court today to provide a response regarding pretrial motions. Now, Abby’s lawyers Robert Ridge and Brandon Verdream are asking to have until June 30 before they are due to file the motions that have been lingering for such a long time now.

In addition to the request for more time, Ridge and Verdream indicated that they have been working with Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory C. Melucci to discuss supposed discovery issues. The latest filing indicates that a potential agreement regarding the discovery issues may be coming together, but little additional information on that aspect was detailed.

As Dance Moms fans know, Miller is facing multiple charges of fraud amid allegations that she hid more than $755,000 in assets during a bankruptcy filing. She pleaded not guilty to the fraud charges last November after an October 13 indictment, but little progress on the case has been made since then. The charges came after the judge in her bankruptcy case saw her on television and pieced together that the money she had made from reality television had not been fully included in her assets breakdown.

In addition to pleading not guilty in court, Abby has said that she is not the one who did anything wrong. During an interview with Extra TV earlier this year, Miller pointed the finger at attorneys and accountants who were handling her affairs. Abby said that her father used to manage her business issues, but once he died she hired others to handle things and she alleges that they did not do their jobs properly.

In addition to detailing news of the sixth delay request, Deadline details that a plea deal may be coming together. Miller could be facing as much as $5 million in fines and five years in prison. However, it sounds as if she may end up accepting a deal that involves probation and a significant fine, but no jail time.

Season 6 of Dance Moms is on hiatus right now, but there are more new episodes on the way. Lifetime has not detailed a return date as yet, but the girls have still been competing, and despite the departures of Mackenzie and Maddie Ziegler, there is more of the series on the way. Viewers have seen Abby reference these legal woes during some recent episodes, but she certainly has avoided the topic on her social media pages over these past few months. Will the case be in the mix of things when new episodes begin to air again?

Will Abby Lee Miller end up taking a plea bargain that keeps her out of jail? Dance Moms fans are curious to see where things head with this case and are anxiously waiting for details regarding the return of the show.
