‘Battlefield 1’ Multiplayer Gameplay Reveal Planned For EA Play

The response to the Battlefield 1 debut trailer was tremendous for DICE and Electronic Arts. It has received more than 36 million views and nearly 1.8 million likes on YouTube so far. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC gamers interested in the game will finally get to see the game in action during an EA Play livestream just before E3 2016.

Electronic Arts is hosting an EA Play event on Sunday, June 12 where Battlefield 1 will be one of many games showcased by the mega-publisher. The game’s multiplayer will debut during the event with a livestream scheduled for 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT. Dubbed “Battlefield Squads,” the livestream will feature a showdown between members of the shooter’s community.

The Battlefield Squads event will feature two teams captained by YouTube streamers StoneMountain64 and Battlefield Friends – Noob. Both have picked teams from other members of the game’s community to demonstrate the multiplayer action of Battlefield 1 and the World War I setting.

Details on Battlefield 1‘s multiplayer is extremely scarce at the moment. Developer DICE focused almost exclusively on the single-player campaign during the reveal event but did share some nuggets of information.

The game will naturally support 64 players, as has been the standard since Battlefield 1942. Squads will have a major point of emphasis too, but expect some changes when it comes to the different classes. DICE Senior Producer Aleks Grondal confirmed in an Xbox One video interview the Assault, Scout, and Support classes will return with the Medic class now its own separate entity and broken out from Assault.

Additionally, there will be at least two vehicle-based classes in Battlefield 1– a Tanker and a Pilot. The primary weapon for each class is their respective vehicle and players will spawn directly into the vehicle versus hopping in a vehicle sitting in a certain location on the multiplayer map.

Meanwhile, the Battlefield 1 debut trailer suggests the Assault class will have SMGs, Support will be equipped with LMGs, and the Scout will still carry the Sniper Rifle. The Medic will possibly utilize a semi-automatic weapon from the World War I setting along with the medkit. Pistols, shotguns, and dynamite have also been confirmed along with suggestions of artillery strikes and even chemical war attacks.
