Gucci Mane Drops New Song ‘First Day Out Tha Feds’ Just One Day After Prison Release — Hits 1 Million Streams In Just One Day

Hip-hop fans will have to find something new to chant now that “Free Gucci” doesn’t mean much. Gucci Mane was released from prison on Thursday and immediately proved that none of his fans forgot about him. The rapper released a new track titled “First Day Out Tha Feds” just one day after he was released. The song racked up 1 million streams in its first day.

The Atlanta rapper, whose real name is Radric Davis, spent 2 years in a federal prison located in Terra Haute, Indiana, after a weapons conviction earned him a 39-month sentence. According to Forbes, there were rumors that Gucci Mane had an entire mixtape to release on Friday, but so far, that has turned out to be untrue.

While he was incarcerated, it may have been the work of Gucci Mane’s team that helped to keep his fans interested. During the time that Mane was incarcerated, new Gucci songs were released both for sale and on streaming platforms with additions to his Trap God and Trap House series’. Thankfully, the trap genre didn’t die while he was away, leaving the music scene wide open and waiting for Gucci Mane’s return.

In addition to a brand new song, fans have been talking about Gucci Mane’s brand new physique. The Atlanta rapper wasn’t one of the most ripped prior to his trip to the slammer nearly three years ago. According to TMZ, Gucci Mane lost 50 pounds while locked up and he came out flaunting six-pack abs.

Gucci Mane credits a carb-free diet for his newly streamlined body and says that he will continue to eat a low-carb diet now that he is out on house arrest. The rapper also wasn’t able to drink alcohol while incarcerated and that likely played a role in his weight loss as well.

Gucci reported to prison in September 2013 and he was originally sentenced to 39-months after he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The rapper was released four months early on Thursday after he was given credit for time served. According to the Bureau of Prisons response to a Pitchfork request, Gucci Mane’s release date is still listed as September 20, and he will likely remain on house arrest until that time.

He didn’t stop making music while he was in prison, and fans don’t expect Gucci Mane to stop now either. It was reported by his record label that Gucci was back in the studio within an hour of his release.

When Gucci Mane’s new song, “First Day Out Tha Feds,” hit more than a million listens in under 24 hours, the newly freed rapper jumped on Instagram to thank his fans for the warm welcome home. He also posted a video message of his newest track to the social media site so that his fans could hear it there, too.

Based on Gucci Mane’s first release since his own release from prison, many fans of his trap style are excited for the rapper to make a comeback. Of course, many aren’t even calling it a comeback since Gucci was so prolific while he was still locked up. His label, 1017 Records, is still doing well and didn’t seem to suffer while Gucci was away due to the success of some of its other artists, including Future and Young Thug. His Atlantic Records deal was canceled. Many expect upcoming Gucci Mane releases to come via his own record label, which doesn’t seem to hurt his popularity in the least.

With Gucci Mane’s early release, and then the immediate release of a brand new song, do you think his career will make a full comeback? Listen to the SoundCloud link for Gucci Mane’s newest song and tell us what you think of “First Day Out Tha Feds” in the comments section below.
