Did Bethenny Frankel Save The ‘Real Housewives of New York’ Franchise?

Bethenny Frankel is back on The Real Housewives of New York, and it sounds like she enjoys being back on the reality show that started everything for her. When she announced her return last year, she revealed that she felt it was the right choice, and it was something that made the circle complete. When Frankel was on the show during the third season, it had some of the best ratings ever. It was during this season that Bethenny fought with Kelly Bensimon and when her friendship with Jill Zarin blew up for all to see.

According to a new tweet, Bethenny Frankel believes that she’s the one who gave the ratings a boost this year. During the past couple of seasons, The Real Housewives of New York hasn’t been amazing in terms of views. Bravo tried everything to fix the show, including firing the majority of the cast after the fourth season and doing a complete recast for the fifth season. When that didn’t work out as expected, Bethenny Frankel decided to come back. Now, the ratings have boosted thanks to the drama.

“You are what every franchise of housewives of should be #slaying,” one person wrote to Frankel, who replied with, “The ratings are up. Let’s try all sitting in a circle braiding each other’s hair not saying how we feel #Canceled.”

It sounds like Bethenny knows that the ratings were down, and she knows that the show would only survive if the ratings came back up again. Two Real Housewives shows have already been canceled due to poor ratings: The Real Housewives of Miami and The Real Housewives of D.C. Maybe Bethenny Frankel wanted to give it just one more shot before leaving the show completely behind. But fans are not convinced that she was the one who gave the show the reboot it needed.

“You had the lowest opening ever on the show. So maybe they are up, nothing to brag about. See?” one person wrote, while another added, “Bethenny has producer rights 2 hire/fire/edit RHONY? She’s brought the franchise down.”

According to Andy Cohen, Frankel has no producer rights on The Real Housewives of New York, as he wrote on Twitter, “she has no producer rights or control over the edit. All the women get the episodes the same day.”

It sounds like people are very split when it comes to Bethenny Frankel. Some people love and adore her on The Real Housewives of New York, because she doesn’t mind causing trouble, speaking her mind, or even getting into trouble. However, others believe that her ego is simply too big and that she thinks too highly of herself.

“There goes the ego 2 that already big ass head…btw speaking of ratings when is the next season of ur talk show,” one person wrote in criticism of Bethenny Frankel, while another added in support, “You are the show! I died when u called out The Countess about being a mentor. Hysterical. Change nothing! #RHONY.”

In regards to the production rumors, Frankel does have her own production company. However, it has nothing to do with The Real Housewives of New York. In fact, it has everything to do with food, as she’s already produced some shows that focus on food and health living.

“I’m excited to be launching B Real Productions and producing creative and innovative content with Brent, Adam and the rest of the Leftfield team,” Bethenny said in a statement when she announced the birth of her production company, according to Bravo. “In addition to my time in front of the camera, I am enjoying being behind-the-scenes developing bold, disruptive and real programming.”

What do you think about Bethenny Frankel giving herself some credit for bringing up the ratings on the show?
