Bill Nye: Ken Ham Invites ‘Science Guy’ To Creation Museum [Video]

Ken Ham and Bill Nye aren’t exactly the best of friends. The two have repeatedly called one another out for their beliefs on social media and even once famously “debated” the merits of creationism vs. evolution. According to one report, though, Ken Ham is ready to bury the hatchet. That’s why he recently chose to invite Bill Nye to visit his newly completed theme park the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky.

Christian Today reports that “Answers in Genesis” founder Ken Ham wants Bill Nye “The Science Guy” to come check out his big new boat in Kentucky. Ham reportedly used social media to extend an olive branch to his rival Bill Nye, posting a video invitation to come to the Ark Encounter on his Facebook page.

“I want to publicly invite Bill Nye to come visit the Ark. I want to show him personally, or just show him where the entrance is, and let him go on his own, whatever he wants to do. I’d be thrilled to be able to show Bill Nye through the Ark, and so I’ll be interested to know if people out there think Bill Nye will take up my invitation. I hope that he does.”

Ken Ham’s new Ark Encounter is a Christian theme park featuring a newly-completed, life-sized replica of Noah’s famous Ark. It reportedly features life-sized and life-like recreations of the pairs of animals that Christians believe were saved by Noah at the time of the Biblical “Great Flood.” According to reports, Ken Ham’s Ark Encounter also demonstrates to enthralled Christian visitors precisely how Noah and his kin survived during the flood, which the Bible describes as 40 days and 40 nights of ceaseless raining. Reportedly, Bill Nye’s arch rival spent $100 million to construct the life-sized Noah’s Ark replica.

In addition to the Ark Encounter, which Ken Ham has invited Bill Nye to check out, the attraction also features the Creation Museum, which has been operating for years. Ken Ham’s Ark Encounter won’t open to the public until July 7.

In addition to his open invitation to Bill Nye, Ken Ham also reportedly offered free park passes to veterans on Monday in honor of Memorial Day.

“We at Answers in Genesis appreciate the sacrifice that U.S. veterans and active military personnel have made and continue to make for the freedoms we enjoy here in America. We’d like to thank our military personnel for the challenging work that they do every day. So as our gift, on Memorial Day, May 30, we’re offering all U.S. veterans and military personnel free admission to the Creation Museum.”

While Bill Nye hasn’t yet officially responded to Ken Ham’s invitation, it’s unlikely that Nye will take him up on his offer. Bill Nye has been publicly critical of both Ken Ham and his beliefs. Bill Nye and Ham exchanged barbs and insults on social media for months before their creationism vs. evolution debate two years ago. Not surprisingly, opinions regarding who won that debate varied and largely depended on whether the person being asked already believed in science or already believe in creation.

Just last week, Bill Nye and Ken Ham once again took to podiums to “debate” their different worldviews, this time in Australia. When the pair began talking, it was pretty obvious that they hadn’t done much to repair their tumultuous relationship since the last debate. This is why Ken Ham’s sudden invitation to Bill Nye came as such a shock to the world, and probably to Nye himself.

Ken Ham is the founder of the Creation Museum, which reportedly hopes and strives to teach the origins of the Universe using literal interpretations of the Biblical book of Genesis. Ken Ham’s museum features displays of dinosaurs interacting with humans, as well as figures from Bible fables.

Bill Nye is “The Science Guy.”

Given the shared history of these two, it would be a miracle of Biblical proportions if Bill Nye decides to take a trip to Kentucky to check out a modern-day ark.

What do you think? Does Ken Ham really want to patch things up with Bill Nye? Is this just a publicity stunt? Will Bill Nye ever set foot on Ken Ham’s boat?
