Johnny Depp: Is Amber Heard Really Blackmailing Him?

Amber Heard recently claimed that Johnny Depp had abused her. At this point, no one is sure whom to believe. However, one of Depp’s close friends is now claiming that Heard is actually blackmailing her heartthrob husband.

According to Hollywood Life, the information came to light in a guest column written by Doug Stanhope. Stanhope, who is a comedian by trade, has been friends with Johnny Depp for years. The column references events that occurred on the night of May 21. In case you’re unaware, May 21 is the date Amber Heard claimed her husband threw an iPhone at her, bruising her face, and then proceeded to smash many of her belongings.

In the column, Stanhope explains that many of Johnny Depp’s friends have never cared much for his wife of 15 months. Some of this dislike is seemingly due to her manipulative tendencies.

Doug and his girlfriend visited Depp’s home, on May 21, prior to the alleged attack. In his column, he wrote that Johnny wasn’t in a good mood, but the pair assumed he was emotional because of his mother’s recent death.

At the time, Depp stated that not only was he upset by his mother’s passing, he was also upset because Heard was planning to leave him. He went on to say that Amber told him if he didn’t agree with her terms she was going to lie about him publicly, in the worst way possible. In other words, she was going to blackmail him.

Before Stanhope and his girlfriend left that evening, Johnny supposedly told them he was still in love with Amber. But, unfortunately, he also knew that she was about to do something devious. Stanhope adamantly stands by his friend, saying Johnny Depp would never abuse anyone.

An International Business Times report indicates that Depp recently hired attorney Laura Wasser to represent him. Specializing in Hollywood divorce cases, Wasser has represented clients such as Kim Kardashian, Christina Aguilera, and Denise Richards.

Depp is fighting Heard’s request for spousal support. However, California law follows a 50-50 ruling, when it comes to splitting community property. Because the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement, before the wedding, Heard stands to gain financially. Maybe. Typically, a California judge is only able to grant spousal support if the couple has been married for at least 10 years.

Johnny Depp gets huge paychecks whenever he gets involved with a project. He also does product endorsements and owns several properties, including an entire island in the Bahamas. Many people close to The Pirates of the Caribbean star truly believe Amber Heard’s so-called blackmail is an attempt to get her hands on her husband’s money.

It’s rather hard to believe that it wasn’t long ago that Johnny Depp and his new bride, Amber Heard, were in love. The couple met on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary. They tied the knot in February 2015.

What are your thoughts in regard to what’s going on between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard? Do you believe he’s abusive? Or, on the other hand, do you think Heard is capable of blackmailing someone in order to get what she wants. Please take a couple of minutes to leave your comments below.
