Drake’s ‘Views’ Beats Out Ariana Grande & Blake Shelton For No. 1 Spot On Billboard Charts

Drake is at the top of the charts, and it looks like he has no plans to slow down.

According to Billboard, Drake’s Views now has the most weeks at No. 1 for an album by a male artist in over four years. This is huge for the Toronto native, as Michael Buble was the last one to spend more time at No. 1 with his Christmas set. In terms of a non-holiday set, it was Eminem who spent seven nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 within a July and September 2010 time frame. Drake’s Views released on April 29, and it has been making progress ever since. This is good news in the face of Drake’s busy schedule, and the Billboard 200 chart isn’t the only place that Drizzy is dominating.

Drake is also making leaps and bounds with his streaming and keeping his tracks in steady rotation. According to Forbes, Views is also making a solid standing by streaming by the millions. The album has claimed the top four largest streaming weeks for an album ever. It’s safe to say that Drake is one of the most popular artists out at the moment, and Ariana Grande and Blake Shelton are taking backseats to his numbers. Will Drake continue to go “back to back”?

Ariana Grande’s third full-length album, Dangerous Woman, is sitting at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200. This makes her another hot artist, and she receives honorable mention with the fact that her first two albums bowed at No. 1. Unfortunately, reports suggest that she has been coming down with a sickness. Her Portugal show was cancelled, though Grande states that she will be making it up to her fans. Time will tell if this will affect her numbers, but she continues to have success on the Billboard beneath Drake’s Views.

Coming in at the No. 3 spot beneath Drake, Blake Shelton’s If I’m Honest album is showing an impressive number of sales. With 170,000 units and a grand 153,000 in traditional album sales, it’s quite clear that he is no slouch in comparison to Grande and Drake. The fact that Honest is another of Shelton’s top 10 albums – his tenth, to be exact – also lends to the sales that he has been racking up. Time will tell if either he or Grande will dethrone the “Six God”, but for now, Drake is leading the pack.

The reviews for Drake’s Views have been mixed, and some critics feel that the rapper has now turned more singer than anything. His beef with Meek Mill suggests that he is capable of bringing more than just vocals to a track, but the sales leave no room for question on whether or not Views has had success. You can call Drizzy many things, but unsuccessful doesn’t appear to fit anywhere in his description.

Coming in at No. 4 beneath Drake, Ariana Grande, and Blake Shelton, Beyonce’s Lemonade has fallen in sales while maintaining a Top 10 position. Rihanna is beneath her at the No. 5 spot with the album Anti.

Eric Clapton is at No. 6 with I Still Do, and Bob Dylan has entered the top 10 rankings at No. 7 with his latest set, Fallen Angels. Meghan Trainor has dropped significantly, going from No. 3 to No. 8 with the album Thank You. Rounding out the last of the top 10, Adele’s 25 has made it back from a No. 15 spot to take No. 9 on the Billboard chart. Lastly, Mudcrutch holds the No. 10 spot with the album 2. There are a few debut albums on the list, making it a question of who will rise and fall in the coming weeks as a result.
