Ronda Rousey Could Take On Hollywood As The Last Action Hero

A frequent question has been making the rounds lately about when Ronda Rousey’s next fight is going to be, and while manager Dana White says that she can take off as much time as she needs; she should consider the opportunities available to her in Hollywood, where she can make an impact on the big screen as an action hero.

In 2015, The Inquisitr wrote about the UFC fighter’s thoughts on her acting career and whom she would play if she were cast in a Marvel movie.

According to the article, Ronda went straight for saying she would like to play Captain Marvel, which is perfect for many wonderful reasons.

The chances of that happening are likely very slim, as everything would have to fall into place to make it so.

Very recently, Cris Cyborg again called out Ronda Rousey to fight her during a running man challenge, but her return still isn’t a sure thing this year, and she’s also apparently scheduled to shoot a remake to Roadhouse, which she says she’s committed to.

Rousey has already been in a few blockbusters, such as Expendables 3 and Furious 7, but she has yet to establish herself as a lead, as she may be able to do with Roadhouse, which made Patrick Swayze a new kind of action star back in 1989.

Variety reported back in October of last year that she would be starring in the movie, even asking Patrick Swayze’s widow for her permission as she wanted to be respectful to the role that the late actor turned into a cult hit.

According to Fox Sports the film had been pushed back until this month, and yet there is currently no information as to whether filming has started.

It’s been common practice since as early as the eighties that athletes of Ronda Rousey’s caliber take on Hollywood action flicks, as many have done her industry and in wrestling, including “The Rock”.

And as fans have proven, Ronda Rousey is well-liked so putting her as a lead in more action films makes financial-blockbuster sense.

Sure, she’s going to be in a comedy with Tina Fey, which only comes across as another one of these odd-couple comedy films we’ve come to expect from the former SNL cast member.

But the U.S. needs a female action star to take Hollywood by storm the right way, and not in a Marvel movie or opposite Tina Fey.

For instance, over the last several months, there was talk about her taking a lead action role in a film that would be shooting in Indonesia, perhaps similar to many films her action co-stars from The Expendables 3 (and the rest of the series) did when they got their start.

The kind of action we’ve seen in those movies is an old school format, which would fit her perfectly; movies that allow her to show off her moves and have bikes, speed boats, bad one-liners, and Ronda Rousey flying in mid-air as a yacht blows up behind her.

And many will also say that we’re past the point of being surprised that aggressive female role-models exist, as mentioned in an article by The Inquisitr about Kelly Ripa, but Ronda Rousey deserves the chance to exist as one on the big screen and become part of the action star circuit.

Sure, there are other female UFC fighters and wrestlers out there with the muscle and the face to put some butts in seats, but it’s Ronda Rousey people can look up to.

The longer she waits and doesn’t put herself out there, the less people are going to care before someone else steps in.

It’s already starting to look like the media and the UFC industry are beginning to miss her.

And let’s be honest, Ronda Rousey might not be cut out for the UFC for very long, the longer she stays gone. In most cases, the sport is a stepping stone to better things, so it certainly makes more sense now, for Rousey to make her mark in Hollywood.
