Anne Hathaway Gushes About Motherhood And ‘The Princess Diaries’

Motherhood seems to suit Anne Hathaway. She only welcomed son Jonathan a few weeks ago, but already Hathaway is glowing about being a mother.

In the middle of promoting her new film, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Hathaway stopped by Good Morning America to open up about her role as a new mom. As it turns out, Anne didn’t get to watch the first twenty minutes of the film because of her son.

“I’m sorry. I am a new mother and I didn’t time the feeding schedule—well, like I have any control over it. My kid was hungry, I had to feed him, I missed the first 20 minutes so I can’t tell you about the beginning of the movie.”

As we know, Hathaway had one of the most creative baby announcements. Usually a star goes through her rep and releases a statement, but instead Hathaway decided to take advantage of a potentially annoying situation. The actress posed for a photo for a paparazzo who was photographing her while she was on vacation. She chose to pose for a few shots, instead of feeling invaded by the photographer.

Hathaway explained how her baby announcement went down.

“I hadn’t planned on ever confirming it and then I just, I had seen a photographer while I was on vacation, taking a photo, and I just thought, ‘It’s such a joyful and a sacred experience, you know, carrying life. And I just thought, ‘I don’t want the first version of this to be out there with me covering or scowling at someone.'”

She continued her story by saying, “You know, that’s not representative of the experience, so I chose a photo that I was happy with, and I put it out there.”

This isn’t the first time Hathaway has talked about being a new mom. Recently, Anne went on the Ellen DeGeneres show, and while there she spoke about her 8-week-old boy and how she was proud of herself for getting out of the house.

“This is a big deal. I’ve been out of the house. I went to the gym three times. Being a mom has changed me in a couple of ways. I feel a lot more confident. I would normally walk in and feel so intimidated, but I walked in like, ‘Yeah, I’m working out with five pound weights but I pushed a baby out of my body. I feel good right now.'”

She then went on to explain her interaction with a trainer, who asked if she was trying to lose her baby weight, which mortified her.

While Anne is getting used to recovering from her pregnancy, she’s just now starting to get back into her career. She’s currently promoting her Alice sequel, and it looks like a Princess Diaries 3 may be in the works.

Director Gary Marshall spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility, and the director revealed that he’s had meetings with both Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway.

“[Anne Hathaway] came to my office, she was quite pregnant — now she’s had the kid, but she comes in pregnant — she puts her computer on the table, pushes three buttons, it’s Julie Andrews on Skype in Long Island. And we have a meeting. This is how we work. So I hope they do it. This is how we work. So I hope they do it.”
