Bernard Fanning Hopes To Inspire Election Voting With Song, Set To Join ‘Play School’

Bernard Fanning, the frontman of the legendary Australian rock band Powderfinger, performed his final show along with his band members at the River Stage in Brisbane on November 13. However, even though Powderfinger has ceased to exist as a rock group, Bernard Fanning has been busily pursuing his solo career. In fact, the rock star had already launched his own solo career while he was still leading Powderfinger, and he released his debut solo album, Tea and Sympathy, back in 2005.

In 2013, after Powderfinger disbanded, he released his follow-up solo album, Departures.

Although Departures’ success did not match that of his first solo debut, it nonetheless managed to top the ARIA Albums charts. Tone Deaf reports that Bernard Fanning has finished working on his third solo album, Civil Dusk, which is expected to be released in July or August this year.

According to Bernard Fanning, his third album was produced with the help of sound engineer Nick DiDia and contains songs whose lyrics are simple yet meaningful. And the music lovers at the Kimberley Moon Experience staged on the banks of the Ord river will be among the first to hear the songs featuring in the third album, as the superstar is scheduled to perform at the event along with Fremantle’s San Cisco and country star Troy Cassar-Daley on May 21.

Yahoo News reports that even though Bernard Fanning is reluctant to play Powderfinger songs at his shows, the rock star has hinted at performing a few classics from the band.

In fact, Fanning has admitted that it will be an enjoyable experience for him to sing the classics in a different format. And indeed, it will be a good experience for the singer himself as it will be his first experience in the Kimberley region.

Bernard Fanning has been as active as ever following his return to the Australian music scene last year. Tone Deaf reported that having previously lived in Madrid with his wife and two young children, Fanning has released a roaring anthem, “Belly of the Beast,” to motivate the Australian people to vote in the upcoming elections in Australia.

And while it is true that voting in federal elections is not compulsory in Australia, Bernard Fanning is encouraging Australians to not throw their votes away and to be informed and carefully consider which candidate could properly represent Australia.

In other news, 46-year-old Bernard Fanning is preparing to head back to school to introduce his brand of music to today youngest generation. According to Music Feeds, the rock artist is gearing up to perform alongside Dan Sultan and You Am I on Play School, the three-generation-long children’s show on the ABC television network, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Apart from Bernard Fanning, approximately 30 celebrities will be performing alongside Play School favorites such as Big Ted, Little Ted, and Jemima as they kick off a month-long celebration of the show’s 50 year anniversary, starting from July 18 on the television stations ABC and ABC Kids. The iconic children’s educational show on ABC has reached legendary status, widely recognized as a major cornerstone in the upbringing of Australian children.

For celebrities like Bernard Fanning, it will be not only an opportunity to team up with other artists for the celebrations but also a golden chance to relive their childhood memories. The show will see the artists performing versions of childhood tunes like “The Wheels on the Bus.”
