Black Snake Eats 4 Blue Robin’s Eggs When Father Bird Flies Away From Nest [Video]

There is an incredible video found in the twelfth position on YouTube’s “Popular Right Now” list. Listed towards the top of the “Popular on YouTube” list of 200 videos, the video stars a black snake, a bird, and four blue eggs.

The video titled “Incredible time lapse of birds nest” is certainly going viral, perhaps because of the unexpected ending. Whereas a robin is seen tending to his nest of four blue eggs, as soon as he flies away, a black snake slithers up and swallows all four eggs whole. As expected, such a mundane task of nature — a snake finding lunch — has caused quite a stir online due to it being caught on camera.

Uploaded to the YouTube account of Tan Nguyen on Friday, May 13, the video has swelled to more than 2.5 million views since that time. The description of the viral video tells viewers that the person who recorded the video used their GoPro to capture the action in the bird’s nest. Whereas the videographer was aiming to get great footage of the blue eggs hatching, another lesson of nature was captured altogether.

“Found a nest in my front yard and decided to sneak my GoPro close by. Was hoping to see the eggs hatch but instead this happened…recorded@1fps in 4K. Be sure to watch in HD!”

As reported by the Huffington Post, the video showing the snake eating the bird’s eggs is actually a time-lapse video, which means it is a collection of photos taken at various intervals. Placed together, the photos make for a fascinating time-lapse video that teaches a lesson of how dangerous it can be for birds to leave their little ones in nests unattended.

Interestingly, a search for “snake” and “eggs” on Facebook turns up not only reactions to the black snake eating the blue eggs but a bunch of other snake stories. Some of those are from folks reacting on social media to the horrid video of a snake eating a puppy — or the scary video of a family finding a big snake slithering down onto their kitchen countertop to try and steal some eggs.

On World Star Hip Hop, the video of the snake eating the eggs is going viral as well. Titled “Damn, Nature: Guy Puts A GoPro In A Bird Nest & Captures Some Crazy Footage!” the video on their website has received nearly 700,000 views since it was uploaded on Saturday, May 14, with nearly 1,000 Facebook likes.

The sight of a snake devouring eggs might be a foreign one to those who aren’t accustomed to seeing snakes sliding up trees. In the realms of social media that feature locales that aren’t foreign to snakes, the video’s outcome isn’t much of a surprise. Either way, watching the snake devour the blue eggs one by one, and pretty quickly at that, is a captivating scene.

Reaction to the video is pouring into YouTube, with the video creator explaining that he titled his video to allow those who didn’t know what was going to happen to experience the same shock the initial viewer of the video experienced upon watching it for the first time.

“Hello YouTubers. I intentionally named the title the way it is so that you guys could fully experience what I did. I was extremely shocked when I saw this and wanted to share the same feeling with my audience, hence the plot twist. Thank you so much for watching!”

However, with the proverbial cat being out of the bag — or the snake having a full belly of blue eggs — people are commenting that they expected to see a beautiful scene of eggs hatching. Some are joking about the snake eating and leaving before the bird gets a chance to return, and are likening the video to a movie.
