WWE News: What Seth Rollins’ WWE Return Means To The Product

Late last year, the WWE World Heavyweight champion went down due to a knee injury. As Seth Rollins and Kane were wrestling in Europe, Rollins went up to perform a sunset flip powerbomb. Rollins came down on his two legs to perform the flip and his knee buckled up on impact. That left the WWE champion on the shelf for a number of months without a WWE TV appearance, unless the Slammy Awards count.

Rollins’ disappearance on WWE television was a big one and a void was created as soon as he went down. His importance to WWE Raw is nearly unmatched, especially after starring in nearly five segments an episode. Did the WWE become dependent on Rollins at one point? That’s a promising theory, but ratings weren’t exactly perfect with him in there either. Judging solely by the ratings isn’t fair at the moment.

Since then, the WWE has had Sheamus and Roman Reigns carry the “torch” while Rollins recovered from injury. It hasn’t been the most-successful, as Sheamus couldn’t draw a dime and Reigns is the most-hated man in the WWE. All it did was make the WWE Universe want Rollins to come back even faster. When he does, he won’t be the opportunistic heel that he once was. He’ll be the biggest face in the WWE.

Luckily for WWE fans, it won’t take long for “the man” to come back on WWE programming. According to SE Scoops and F4WOnline.com, Seth Rollins’ WWE return is coming within the next month.

“According to PWInsider.com, sources within WWE indicate that Seth Rollins is scheduled to return to television on the week of June 6. However, he could come back sooner if necessary.

“The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was working out at the Performance Center last week to get ready for his return.”

The best news of all is that Rollins is working out at the WWE Performance Center as he trains for his return. With that, WWE fans can be hopeful that the former-WWE champion is coming back, faster and stronger. It may be an old adage, but the technology is advancing everyday, so counting him out to be even better isn’t all to rare.

Tommy Dreamer even spoke on that fact when asked if Roman Reigns should turn heel. The former-ECW champion said to just wait until Rollins came back.

“Wait until Seth Rollins comes back. That can be (Reigns’) big heel turn. It’s funny because on social media on Mondays and Tuesdays, when everybody is talking about it just like we are, (Reigns’ heel turn) is a pop culture hot topic. To me, whatever happens with the (current) AJ Styles and Roman Reigns feud, the moment Seth Rollins comes back, Seth Rollins could be the biggest babyface WWE will have of all-time. ‘Hey, I want my title back, Roman Reigns.’ Guess what? He has just turned heel because no one is going to cheer him against Seth Rollins.”

There has already been talk amongst the IWC that want Rollins and Reigns to have a similar feud to CM Punk and John Cena from 2011. When Punk won the WWE title in Chicago, he left the company with the belt. When he returned, both men had a championship belt. They felt the title in their own hands was the best one.

That led to one of the greatest storylines of all-time. That’s not to say Rollins and Reigns couldn’t replicate that, simply because Reigns couldn’t carry himself on the mic nearly as well as Cena or Punk. However, it would bring about that sense of personal rivalry because of the history they have with each other.
