Anne Hathaway Shines On First Red Carpet Since Giving Birth

After a small break from Hollywood, Anne Hathaway is ready to get back on the scene. Yesterday, the award-winning actress made her first red carpet appearance since giving birth to her first child.

Hathaway showed up in Los Angeles for Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass movie premiere on Thursday, May 12, as reported by People. The first-time mother was all smiles for the camera and appeared in an ensemble fitting for the Tim Burton-produced film.

While Hathaway is a big fan of Valentino, the 33-year-old actress appeared in a black and white lace dress with “petite cherub” cotton designed by Disaya. Hathaway kept most of her makeup in neutral colors but colored her lips with a bold, red lipstick that showed off her radiant smile.

Hathaway’s shoulder-length brunette hair was set in loose waves. The actress didn’t really wear any jewelry, but she did come equipped with a white clutch purse. Hathaway finished the look with black, strappy heels that showed off her white polish pedicure.

Anne Hathaway came to movie premiere with her husband of nearly 4 years, Adam Shulman, 35. The couple posed on the red carpet and also took pictures with another celebrity couple, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. Hathaway and Blunt co-starred in the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada.

Hathaway reprises her role as the White Queen in Alice Through the Looking Glass, the sequel to the 2010 movie Alice in Wonderland, which is based on the classic Lewis Carroll novel of the same name. The Disney movie also stars Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Mia Wasikowska, who are back in their Alice in Wonderland roles for the sequel.

Hathaway took a break from filming movies and attending other Hollywood events since she gave birth to her son, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, last March. Hathaway does have one more film, the science-fiction action film Colossal, which is currently in post-production and does not have an official release date as of May.

Although Hathaway doesn’t have any new movie projects in the works so far, the actress is contemplating a return to the role that made her famous. Late last month, Vanity Fair had an article stating that Hathaway, Julie Andrews, and director Garry Marshall have been in talks to make a third movie for The Princess Diaries franchise.

Anne Hathaway first gained fame in the 2001 Disney movie The Princess Diaries. The actress played Mia Thermopolis, a shy, mousy girl who inherits a royal title and instantly becomes a princess-in-training after her father’s death.

The first film became a box office hit, which naturally spawned a sequel, 2004’s The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, where most of the main cast returned to their roles. Marshall directed both movies, and is still interested in making the franchise a trilogy.

While fans of The Princess Diaries movies would enjoy seeing the main cast in a third film, there is nothing official yet. Marshall claims that while Disney has not green-lighted the project, the director can’t help but plan out the second sequel and talk about who he would cast in the film.

“Chris Pine, a wonderful actor, also might appear in Princess Diaries [sequel] if we do it. His father is playing Kate Hudson’s father in Mother’s Day!””

Meanwhile, Hathaway is enjoying the break from networking or filming, and concentrating on being a mother to her son. Hathaway has even taken a step back from her social media accounts, although she does post occasionally.

Anne Hathaway hasn’t posted a photo of her son on her Instagram account, but she has posted a selfie of herself on May 13 with designer Valentino in the background.

Alice Through the Looking Glass opens in theaters on May 27.
