Beyonce ‘Begged’ Jay Z To Attend Met Gala Amid ‘Lemonade’ Divorce Speculation: Couple Breaking Up?

Beyonce reportedly wanted husband Jay Z to attend the Met Gala with her, but the rapper refused, it has been alleged.

The rapper, who was notably absent from the New York fashion spectacle, was initially said to have avoided the highly publicized event following the release of Beyonce’s latest album, Lemonade, which heavily focuses on Jay’s alleged cheating affairs.

Beyonce didn’t shy away from talking about her marriage on the record, confirming that Jay Z was hooking up with “Becky with the good hair,” and that their relationship almost came to an end on numerous occasions.

With that in mind, Jay Z reportedly didn’t want people bombarding him with questions regarding Beyonce’s latest album. While he’s proud of the body of work his wife has produced out of the messy situation, he doesn’t want to relive the dark times of his marriage by having to answer questions regarding his reported cheating affairs.

“Jay wanted no part of Met,” one insider shared. “Hov didn’t want to be bombarded with questions from every which way. He didn’t want Beyonce’s celebrity girl friends giving him the side-eye and treating him like dirt because of Lemonade.”

The source went on to stress that Jay Z was also refusing to attend the Met Gala over fears that he could have potentially faced an awkward run-in with alleged mistress Rachel Roy, who is a regular at the fashion event.

Ironically enough, Rachel was absent this year, which surprised many fans since she’s usually always there to showcase her new designs from her clothing line.

Furthermore, Beyonce’s sister Solange also attended the Met Gala, which reportedly made Jay Z even more uncomfortable. Had Rachel Roy, Beyonce, Solange, and the rapper crossed paths with one another, one could only imagine what would have happened. Jay seems to have wanted to avoid any sort of confrontation by all means.

“Beyonce begged him to come,” the source continued. “She low key wanted to see him squirm under all the pressure he’d be under. But he didn’t have the guts to come and even told Beyonce he was feeling sick earlier in the day.”

While the 34-year-old certainly didn’t want to put her husband in an uncomfortable position, she did think it would’ve been funny to see if Jay could’ve handled the pressure from all the interviews and his fellow musical peers looking at him funny. After all, Beyonce’s latest album left a lot of people wondering how the 46-year-old could’ve stepped out of his marriage when he is married to Queen Bey.

While Jay Z may have ditched Beyonce at the Met Gala, sources say that he did show up to her Formation World Tour show in North Carolina last night. In fact, Jay has attended every single show so far, giving fans the impression that he is supporting his wife throughout the summer tour, which won’t be ending until August.

Sources allege that it will be months, if not up to a year, before Beyonce and Jay Z make an appearance at a public event together. Jay certainly wants to wait for the drama concerning his marriage to die down before he even considers doing any interviews again.
