Lauren Conrad to Pen Young-Adult Novels
Designer, reality TV star. . . author? Oh, the pain. I’m sure that there are going to be tons of youth-oriented novelists weeping themselves to sleep after they read that Lauren Conrad is going to be an author. Recent reports from Usmagazine.com claim that she’s signed a deal for not one, but three books through HarperCollins.
Guess what was even more painful than reading that news, though? The fact that her personal statement says that she loves to read– not write:
“I’ve always loved books that I could lose myself in, ones that would transport me to another place, but had characters I could relate to. I’m so excited to have this opportunity to write books like that for other readers.”
I thought that writers were supposed to be hardcore dedicated to their craft. My heart goes out to the ghostwriter responsible for developing a book that’s already developing “instant buzz” for this “blockbuster publication.”
I hope some of the buzz was skeptical.
