Taylor Swift Reveals Met Gala Date, & It’s Not Calvin Harris: What They’ll Never Ever Do Together [Photos]

Taylor Swift finally chose her perfect date for the famed Met Gala. Regarded by many as the fashion event of the year, the Met Gala requires a date who is famed for knowing how to dress for the red carpet while guaranteeing some fun at a sometimes stuffy event (how many celebrities decked out in their finest can you view before getting bored?). But rather than choose boyfriend Calvin Harris, Taylor turned to a member of her girl squad, Selena Gomez, reported Refinery 29.

Gomez shared the news while describing what the Met Gala involves.

“[Taylor and I] are going with each other,” explained the singer. “It’s so fun, it’s going to be the best. It’s kind of like prom for fashion.”

Celebrities and designers come together each year at the Met Gala. It does more than give everyone a chance to flaunt fabulous fashions, however, because it also benefits charity.

As for what Swift will wear to the Met Gala? Taylor recently has been rocking an edgier fashion since she opted to become a bleached blonde, pointed out People.

Only her fondness for lace-up booties has remained the same. Credit for Swift’s new style goes to Anna Wintour, who revealed that she decided it was time to do a fashion intervention prior to the Met Gala in order to make Taylor “into a sort of a rock n’ roll chick.”

While that sounds promising when it comes to Swift’s Met Gala attire, the speculation over why Calvin isn’t her date continues. Is there a problem when it comes to their relationship, or is it the event itself?

Although Taylor has become known for enjoying opportunities to show off her style savvy, Harris has never even gone to the Met Gala, according to Bustle.

Moreover, Swift has a serious responsibility at the event, because she has taken on the role of co-hosting the 2016 Met Gala. Although Taylor has chosen a member of her girl squad as a date, will Calvin sum up his courage (and his best attire) and go as moral support?

Harris and Swift have gone to awards show together and piled on the PDA at those events as well as the after-parties.

While Taylor and Calvin are still going strong, there’s been speculation about why the two haven’t teamed up together for a duet. There’s plenty of precedences. As the Inquisitr reported, lovebirds Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton recently confirmed their affection while delighting fans with a very special duet.

But Harris just revealed that when it comes to collaborating with Swift, the odds are that they will never ever do a duet, according to Yahoo Style.

Calvin, whose real name is Adam, shared the news. The revelation occurred when Harris was visiting Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. Although his goal was to promote “This Is What You Came For,” which is his new single with Rihanna, Ryan apparently could not resist pushing Calvin to confess about the potential for a collaboration with Taylor.

“You know, we haven’t even spoken about it,” Harris initially said.

But then, after contemplating the likelihood that he and Swift would spend time in a music studio together focusing on some sort of collaboration such as a duet, Calvin became even firmer in his denial.

“I can’t see it happening though. No. She’s about to take a long break, you know?” pointed out Taylor’s boyfriend.

But in addition to his new single with Rihanna, Harris revealed that he is working on a new project, which he described as “half a song,” with Ellie Goulding. As to whether it will go from “half a song” to a full song to be released, Calvin was vague.

So how does Taylor feel about Harris collaborating with other singers such as Rihanna? Swift made it clear on social media by sharing her “OMG” excitement.
