Obamas To Meet Up With Prince William, Kate Middleton, And Prince Harry On U.K. Visit

U.S. president Barack Obama and his First Lady, Michelle Obama, will be meeting up with royalty on Friday at Kensington Palace and will be treated to a private dinner. Obama will also be meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron during the visit.

Reportedly Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Prince Harry are looking forward to hosting a private dinner party for the Obamas, who in turn are looking forward to meeting the royal trio again.

A statement from Kensington Palace read: “Their Royal Highnesses are very much looking forward to welcoming President and Mrs Obama to Kensington Palace.”

As reported by Hello Magazine, the Obamas are set to arrive in the U.K. later this week and besides the dinner with Prince William, Kate and Prince Harry, the presidential couple will also have lunch at Windsor Castle with Queen Elizabeth II on Friday, the day after her 90th birthday.

With the end of his term of office on the horizon, this will likely be Barack Obama’s last official trip to the U.K. as President of the United States, and reportedly during the visit he will also hold a joint conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street.

According to a spokesman for the White House, “The visit will allow the president to offer his gratitude to the British government and people for their stalwart partnership with his administration and the American people throughout his presidency.”

This isn’t the first time that the parties involved have met up for various engagements, with Prince William and Kate’s first meeting back in May 2011, when the Obamas were on a state visit to the U.K. This was reportedly one of William and Kate’s first engagements as a married couple, as the visit happened just a few weeks after their marriage.

Barack and Michelle Obama also met with Queen Elizabeth II during their visit at Winfield House, the residence of the U.S. Ambassador.

The First Lady visited with Prince William and Kate in July 2012 at a reception in Buckingham Palace, and William met with President Obama in Washington on his own back in 2014.

As reported by The Inquisitr, Prince Harry spent some time with the Obamas in October last year, when he was in Washington for just one day while promoting the 2016 Invictus Games, the international sporting competition for wounded servicemen. During that visit, Harry met wounded military members alongside Michelle Obama.

At that time, the First Lady said she would do everything possible to “shine a light” on the Invictus Games, which will be happening in Orlando next month. Later in the day, Harry met up with President Obama at the White House for an informal chat.

Also during 2015, Michelle Obama took time out of a whirlwind trip to U.K. to present gifts to Prince George and his newborn sister, Princess Charlotte.

As reported by the Daily Mail, in an ITV documentary aired to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, Obama was heard to praise her royal highness for her “generous human touch,” while crediting the Queen with helping to ensure the lasting special relationship between the U.K. and the U.S.A.

A couple of photos of the Obamas with Queen Elizabeth II can be seen in the video below, which includes photos of the Queen’s 90 years in 90 pictures.
