‘Sister Wives’ Spoilers: What To Expect From Season 7

Season 7 of TLC’s Sister Wives is set to premiere on May 8, 2016. Up until last week it was still uncertain if Sister Wives was going to be returning for another season. At the end of Season 6, Meri Brown shook the foundation of the polygamist marriage when it was revealed she was having an emotional affair. The affair first started online, but eventually grew to include phone calls as well.

The scandal grew even deeper when Meri learned the man she had started to fall in love with was actually not a man, but a woman impersonating one. Meri was being catfished by a woman named Jackie Overton. During a TLC inverview with Tamron Hall, Meri shared that Overton used photos of an actor to trick her into thinking she was a man. In the video you also hear Tamron ask Meri if anything physical ever happened between her and Samuel Jacob Cooper (Overton’s alias). Kody’s body gives a visible sigh of relief when Meri says no. Overton has since released a tell-all kindle book under the alias of Samuel Jacob Cooper that is available on Amazon. The book tells about Overton’s six-month relationship with the Sister Wives star.

The upcoming season will focus a lot on Meri’s catfishing scandal and how the Sister Wives family is trying to work its way back to normalcy, if that can be done. In TLC’s Sister Wives first-look video, Meri’s daughter, Mariah, shares that her mom has been trying to talk to her about what happened, and Mariah is just not ready to deal with it. In the video you hear her say,

“My mom and I aren’t on super great terms right now. I’m kind of sensing that Mom wants to go and ask me these deep questions and I can’t handle it.”

Kody also shares that he and sister wife Meri have been struggling for quite some time and Meri says she was angry with Kody. It’s unclear if Meri’s actions will mark the beginning of the end for the Sister Wives. Not only has she betrayed Kody with the emotional affair, but she has also betrayed the other wives and all of their 18 children. The family has publicly supported her since the incident, but many viewers question if this is so they can keep the show for the income. The Sister Wives family is currently attending therapy to get through this difficult time.

This season of Sister Wives will also find Kody and Janelle’s daughter, Madison, or Maddie Brown, getting engaged. Maddie’s engagement produced its own small scandal for Sister Wives as her fiancé is related to the family. According to Radar Online, Caleb Brush is Maddie’s aunt’s brother. Confused? Basically, Kody’s sister-in-law is Caleb’s sister, so there is no blood relation.

Season 7 of Sister Wives will also feature the birth of the newest Brown. Ariella Mae Brown was born January 10, 2016 at 10:10 p.m., weighing in at 9 pounds 9 ounces and measuring 21 inches long. Ariella is sister wife Robyn’s second child with husband Kody Brown. Robyn also has three other children that Kody adopted. In order to do this, Kody legally divorced first sister wife, Meri, and then legally married Robyn.

Do you think Sister Wives will be able to make it past Meri’s affair? Do you think Meri could leave the family behind now that she is legally divorced from Kody Brown? Leave your feedback in the comments and tune in to watch the season premiere on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at 8/7c on TLC.
