Taylor Swift Debuts Bleached Hair: Is Her Hip New Look For Her New Album?

Taylor Swift showed off a new side of herself that she’s never shown before. The 26-year-old singer is finally growing up.

Taylor took to Instagram on Friday, April 15, to debut her new bleached blonde hair just in time for Coachella.

“BLEACHELLA,” Swift wrote in her Instagram post, along with a lightning bolt emoji. Swift is seen wearing a black embroidered jacket that’s reminiscent of those “Member’s Only” jackets from the 80s. In the photo, the pop star also wears black Ray-Ban sunglasses and her signature red lipstick. Her bob is styled slightly messy instead of her usual pin straight style. There’s something about Swift that looks a little slick, hip, and edgy for a change.

This isn’t the first time this week that the country-turned-pop singer has debuted her shocking new look. Taylor looked like a completely different person on the cover of Vogue’s May, 2016, issue, which was unveiled on Thursday. The singer is seen rocking a sexy rocker look on the cover with her shaggy platinum blonde hair as she posed in a slinky sheer silver dress with chunky leather boots.

Swift revealed that she’s a huge fan of her new look and the cover. She wrote on Instagram that “[t]his is my favorite cover I’ve ever gotten to be a part of.”

But is her new look really just for Coachella, or is it for her upcoming album? The accompanying interview written by Jason Gay talks about the next steps in Taylor’s music career. She’s currently on a break after her 1989 World Tour and the success of her 1989 album, released in October, 2014.

When asked what she plans to do next, she seemed unsure. “This is the first time in 10 years that I haven’t known,” the singer honestly expressed.

Then Swift hinted that she may come out with a new album. The creative process could happen after her break, or even sooner than we think.

“I just decided that after the past year, with all of the unbelievable things that happened … I decided I was going to live my life a little bit without the pressure on myself to create something,” she told Vogue. “I’m always going to be writing songs. The thing is, with me, I could very well come up with three things in the next two weeks and then jump back into the studio, and all of a sudden the next record is started. That’s an option too.”

She also discussed her future with DJ Calvin Harris, who she’s dated since March, 2015. Like with her music, Taylor wants to take her time and not write any songs about their relationship.

“I’m just taking things as they come. I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key. … This is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life.”

For now, Swift has been enjoying her time at Coachella. She’s been hanging out with her famous friends Jack Antonoff, Lorde, and Martha Hunt. Swift has taken to Instagram once again to share some incredibly cool photos of her group. Even though these shots are still staged, there’s something about them that’s so unlike Taylor Swift. It’s like Swift has a new cool personality that her fans don’t know about yet.

Or it’s probably because the pop star is dressed in all black and allowing her shaggy bob and red lips become the main accessory. But Taylor does change it up in an olive green army jacket with a light pink lip. “Family photo,” she captioned the photo of the group, which includes her younger brother, Austin.

And then in a black-and-white photo, everyone is lined up and seen wearing matching minimalist outfits and accessories. Swift curiously wrote her thoughts on Coachella style, “I feel like maybe chokers are the new flower crowns?”

Victoria’s Secret Angel Martha Hunt also shared a photo of herself receiving a friendly kiss on the cheek from the singer.

“Coachilllllin,” Martha captioned the photo, which shows her wearing a white crochet top over a black bikini top. Meanwhile, Taylor is photographed wearing a black strappy romper with her trendy white choker.

An onlooker told People that Swift and her friends were seen dancing around Borns’ set on Friday as they spent most of their time in the VIP area. It’s likely that Swift will post more photos and videos as her boyfriend takes over the main stage on Sunday night.
