Ariana Grande Kills It In MTV Awards ‘Dangerous Woman’ Performance

Ariana Grande, known for her big voice, slayed in her MTV Movie Awards rendition of “Dangerous Woman.” The all grown up former Nickelodeon star was dressed to kill in Marilyn Monroe-inspired attire. Showing off her petite frame in a pink silk strapless fitting gown, diamond necklace and white fur boa, the singer also scratched her signature hairstyle and opted for a simple low ponytail.

Before her performance, E! Online reports Grande teased fans with hints of what was to come, “it’s more character-y and I’m excited to just have fun, play dress-up, and do a different version of it.”

Grande offered a more jazzy vibe to her MTV Awards audience. Accompanied by pianist and Broadway composer, Jason Robert Brown, she ripped through the song and showed off the full range of her vocal talent. Brown, according to an interview between Ariana and MTV News, had a helping hand in casting her in her first role in 13: The Musical. Since, the 22-year-old has gone on to big things in both acting and singing.

MTV Movies Awards Show Talk

While Grande’s performance was noteworthy, the awards show was a success for many others. Hosted by Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, MTV’s annual awards ceremony honored the year’s biggest movies and poked some fun too.

Hart and Johnson, who wore several different costumes throughout the night, made for a memorable comedy team. The two spat a rap that made fun of Leonardo DiCaprio’s bear fight scene in The Revenant. The song, which inspired comedian Rebel Wilson to make out with a teddy bear, kept the audience laughing as they sang, “you’ll always remember where you were when Leo got f—-d by a bear.”

The awards show also had some more serious high points. MTV paid special tribute to Will Smith, with the Generation Award, as well as Melissa McCarthy, who is the first lady to take home the coveted Comedic Genius Award.

The biggest winner of the night was Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which also won Movie of the Year. Chris Pratt beat out Leo DiCaprio and others for his role as the leading male in Jurassic World. Not a surprise to many, Ryan Reynolds took home the popcorn for the best comedic performance for his part in Deadpool and Jennifer Lawrence was honored for the best hero in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

Ariana Grande, Master Impressionist?

Besides being an awards show sensation and Nickelodeon alum, Grande can also add master impersonator to her list of feats. In recent episodes of Saturday Night Live and Jimmy Fallon, the singer has shown off the range of her vocal talents. She’s mimicked a long list of performers, ranging from Celine Dion to Rihanna to Brittany Spears.

Quickly becoming a fan favorite, Ariana has been invited to multiple stages to showcase her impersonations of megastars.

Before taking on the stage as a singer, Ariana Grande was known for her starring role on Nickelodeon’s Victorious, where she played red-haired Tori Vega. Since the show finished airing, Grande’s focus and appearance have changed quite a bit. But, who wouldn’t expect that from a teenager that enters adulthood? Now, fans can witness the “Dangerous Woman” singer spreading her wings in music as well as acting in shows like Scream Queens.
