This movie will premiere tonight on Lifetime and everyone is ready to see if this is a true story or not. Lifetime is known for great true stories, but they also do really good fiction movies. Bustle shared the details about the movie and if the events depicted really happened. The movie The Cheerleader Murders doesn’t seem to be based on a true story, but it is a scary story.

Lifetime explains what the movie The Cheerleader Murders is about and the details are scary. Here is what you can expect to see tonight.

“Ellie lives in a cursed town with a string of tragedies— the most recent being the murder of her sister and father. She hopes the darkness is behind her, but when her fellow cheerleaders Dee and Morgan are kidnapped, Ellie knows the curse is at work again. After Morgan is found dead, Ellie becomes determined to rescue Dee and expose the killer, but it may already be too late…and she may be next. As the police struggle to find a lead, Ellie begins an investigation of her own— but each step closer to the truth is a step closer to death.”

The Cheerleader Murders does not seem to be based on a true story, but that doesn’t mean it won’t remind viewers of a few real-world reports. Similar stories like the one in the film have sadly happened in the past. The preview for this movie shows one of the fictional cheerleaders being taken away, and their friends are doing everything they can to find them. They put up posters and one of the girls even decides to take matters in her own hands. She says, “Someone has to do something.”

Tori Spelling was actually in the movie Death of a Cheerleader years ago that was a big hit on Lifetime. In this movie, some of the girls took their jokes a bit too far. In this clip below, they actually take out a diary and start making fun of the one of the girls. Monica, the girl who owns the diary, actually catches them. Then, she says she wants to kill Tori Spelling’s character. If you love this kind of movie, consider catching up on it.

The Cheerleader Murders sounds like it is going to be full of great music, as well. Fall Out Boy and Mike Bennett both shared on Twitter that they will be featured, so pay attention to who is performing during The Cheerleader Murders. This movie could end up making a few songs a hit.
