Jodie Sweetin Speaks Out About Sobriety, Never Giving Up

Jodie Sweetin may be starring on Fuller House and Dancing With the Stars both right now, but Jodie actually had a long battle to get there. Jodie is now five years sober, and is speaking out about her life now and how you should never give up. The thing is some people give up after a battle like this, but Jodie fought through it and was able to make it where she is today. Us Magazine got the chance to catch up with Jodie and get an update on her life.

This month of March was actually five years of sobriety for Jodie Sweetin. The truth is, Jodie didn’t just have a battle with alcohol. She also did other drugs, including crystal meth. Jodie has not been shy about her battle, and talks to fans about her experience. Now five years later, Jodie Sweetin is still sober and doing great. Sweetin spoke out and shared about her experience.

“We all have our demons. When we finally learn to let them go, we get to live and be free. I’ve got everything I could want. I look back at things that have happened in the past, and I look at where I’m now, and it’s crazy. If anything, my life is a lesson to never give up.”

Her fiancé, Justin Hodak, has been a huge help for Sweetin. She was already sober when she started to date him, but Hodak has helped to keep her from going back into that lifestyle. He was 11 years sober in December, so he gets what Jodie is going through and can help her through it all. This makes it easier for her, of course knowing that he won’t be someone pushing her back into her old habits. Jodie shared that they do turn to each other for support. Sweetin went on to share about getting married again.

“He’s so different and, really importantly, I’m different. I haven’t always had the best luck in relationships, and I’ve learned a lot of lessons. I want to be married. I don’t think there’s anything wrong admitting that it didn’t work before and trying again.”

People shared that Jodie Sweetin posted her own blog about Latin week on DWTS. Jodie shared that before being on the show, she didn’t realize it is a full-time job. She has to see a physical therapist, plus interviews and practicing her dance, of course. As a mom of two, it has been a long time since Jodie actually embraced her sexy side, but her samba made her have to do that, but Jodie did great with it. She admits sometimes you focus on being a mom and forget that you are a woman as well. Being a mom starts to come first.

At this time, Jodie Sweetin is staying really busy with DWTS. Her other show, Fuller House, has already been renewed for a second season, so that will give Jodie something to do as soon as this over. Fans are loving seeing her again, and the fact that she is doing great. Jodie has her act together and it doesn’t look like anything is going to slow her down. You never know where Jodie will turn up next.
