‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For March 11, Deja Vu Edition

Destiny players who have stuck it out during this slow period are well aware that the seemingly random Xûr inventory doesn’t always feel particularly random. That’s the case for the mysterious vendor’s visit to the Tower on Friday, March 11 as he carries the exact same inventory from a visit in mid-December.

Xûr can be found in the very back of the bar located underneath Future War Cult in the hangar this weekend. It’s a long jog, but easy to find. Just turn left when you enter the hanger, go down the stairs to the left, and then straight back. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map just to be sure.

Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, March 13. He will be gone as soon as the clock strikes 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

An Insurmountable Skullfort

Destiny players with Sunbreaker Titans may have a new best friend for PVE. The Year Two version of An Insurmountable Skullfort has a new, innate perk that grants an extra melee attack in addition to free melee energy on spawn. This synergizes excellently with the new “Melting Point” ability for Sunbreakers that provides a significant debuff to enemies and works well with Defender Titans’ “Overshield” perk.

Other perks on the helmet include the choice between “Hands-On” or “Heavy Lifting” to give extra Super Energy from melee or Heavy Weapon Kills. It also comes with the “Invigoration” perk that grants bonus melee energy when picking up Orbs of Light.

The split 48 Discipline and 51 Strength stat roll is decent and supports the helmet’s primary punching perk. The only reason to re-roll with the Glass Needle might be to shoot for a higher Strength roll and possibly Intellect depending on your build.

Achlyophage Symbiote

Hunters that still run Gunslinger in Destiny Year Two will want to pick up this upgrade from what was a beloved Year One piece. The “Last Man Standing” innate perk gives one extra shot to the Golden Gun. Unfortunately, a previous Destiny update reduced the time of the Gunslinger Hunter thus making it more difficult to get that fourth crucial shot off. This is especially true when not in crowds. Still, a Golden Gun round can now take out a Sunbreaker Titan in a single shot in PVP and an extra shot is always beneficial.

The optional perks are the premium “Inverse Shadow” or “Second Thoughts,” along with “Innervation” as the lone perk in the final column.

The 50 Intellect and 47 Discipline stat role is solid for Gunslingers who already have a strong Intellect build to generate more Super energy. The fact the helmet comes with the “Inverse Shadow” perk by default is a boon and likely enticement to leave well enough alone. Destiny players will want to consider using the Glass Needles to reroll only if they need more Intellect.

Heart of the Praxic Fire

Heart of the Praxic Fire is to Sunsinger Warlocks what Obsidian Mind is to Voidwalker Warlocks. Its “Praise the Sun” perk decreases all cooldowns while the Radiance Super is active. This turns “Sunbros” into grenade-chucking and orb generating machines in Destiny. It also comes with perks to carry more Hand Cannon and Sniper Rifle ammo.

The 101 Discipline stat roll for this chest piece is perfectly fits in with this Exotic piece’s focus on generating as many grenades as possible. Attempting to obtain a better perk roll for which weapon type to carry extra ammo for might be the only reason to re-roll with Glass Needles.
