Bradley Cooper’s Directorial Debut Dead Due To Queen Bey

Unfortunately, Bradley Cooper’s hopes for his directorial debut have been dashed all due to the diva Beyonce.

The Silver Linings Playbook actor was set to direct the film for A Star is Born. According to the New York Post, the film is being put on the shelf after Bradley had intended to give the lead role to Beyoncé, yet the superstar singer turned him down reportedly due to the payout not being big enough.

Wonderwall relays the situation that has played out since Bradley took initiative to get production underway.

“The report says Bradley was negotiating with Warner Bros. to take the reigns on the 1950s musical remake. He was set to star in the film, as well. Beyoncé, he’d hoped, was going to play the lead of a young woman who has dreams to become a star and those dreams are aided by an aging icon.”

A source relayed further details to Page Six in regard to Bey’s response to the role offer from Cooper.

“Beyoncé wanted too much money, and Warner Bros. balked at her price. The production budget was also said to be an issue with the studio, so the project has fallen apart.”

Two additional sources have stated that the project is not dead in the water as others have made it seem to be. That being stated, the insiders have shared that Bradley Cooper isn’t as focused on the project as he initially had been.

“Bradley has started reading scripts for his next acting project. But the ‘Star Is Born’ project remains in development and Bradley is still involved. This project is something Bradley has been involved with for a long time. It has gone on the back burner, but he’s still working on it, among other projects.”

The film is a remake of the 1954 hit that starred Judy Garland. The ’50s musical was, however, a remake of a 1937 film which starred Frederic March and Janet Gaynor. It was remade again in 1976 but the version of the ’70s was blasted by critics.

In 2011 it was said that Clint Eastwood was apparently directing a remake that had Beyoncé in the lead but production kept getting delayed. Tom Cruise, Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Will Smith were all rumored to take on the role as lead at the time as well.

Cooper has made it known since 2014 that he was interested in directing, as Page Six notes. The star selected the perfect film for him after he experienced such success starring in American Sniper, which was a film by Warner Bros. Cooper intended his choice film to also be produced by Warner Bros.

There has been no word from reps on the topic of Cooper’s intended directorial debut or Beyoncé’s rumored refusal to take on the role. Reps from Warner Bros., Bradley Cooper, or Beyoncé did not comment about the cinematic issue. It’s clear that Bey is just too pricey for the project, but hopefully the film will come together and Cooper can take on the role as director as intended.

In other Bradley Cooper news, the actor has made his relationship with supermodel Irina Shayk official. The two made their debut as a couple on a red carpet event for the L’Oreal Red Obsession Party in Paris.

The couple certainly waited a while before making their relationship known. Cooper and Shayk reportedly began seeing each other last May but preferred to keep things hush hush. as TMZ shares.

Not only did the couple make an appearance, they also were sure to put on a little PDA for all to see, They definitely make one hot couple!
