Is Britney Spears Returning To TV With A New Reality Series?

Could Britney Spears be planning her triumphant return to reality TV?

According to OK! Magazine, Britney Spears is planning to invite the cameras into her life once again for a new reality show, which will supposedly follow her life in Las Vegas as she performed her “Britney: Piece of Me” residency shows. It will also give fans an inside look as Spears prepares for the release of her upcoming ninth studio album.

“Many networks have approached [Britney] about showing her life as a working mom, and Brit’s eager to prove that she’s normal and show off her fun-loving side,” an insider allegedly told the site last week.

“This show would focus on her life now. With her kids, working on her Vegas show and recording a new CD,” the source continued, adding that Britney “is in a great place and has nothing to hide. Letting the cameras into her life would help promote the new album and make her a pop culture icon again.”

Naughty Gossip also reported that Spears “knows her image has been tarnished” over the past few years and is allegedly hoping that a reality show would “show everyone that the Britney they love is back,” adding that Spears’ supposed show could begin filming as early as the next few months.

However, OK! also revealed that if Britney does opt to put her life in the spotlight, she’ll be going against the wishes of her dad, Jamie, who still serves as her legal conservator. The site alleged that Spears’ dad is against the idea and is worried that Britney may “embarrass herself or be taken advantage of” if she appears on a reality show.

But if Spears does in fact opt to put her life on display on the small screen for a new docuseries, it certainly won’t be Britney’s first time sharing her life in front of the camera.

Britney previously bared all alongside ex-husband Keven Federline on the short-lived series Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, which hit screens on UPN in 2005 and lasted for just five half-hour episodes. The series followed Britney and Kevin’s life in the mid 2000s and documented their whirlwind relationship in the lead up to their 2005 wedding.

But it wasn’t just Britney and Kevin: Chaotic that put Spears on our screens.

Spears has also starred in a number of one-off specials about her life following the series with Federline, who is the father to Spears’ two sons Sean and Jayden, including 2008’s Britney: For the Record and the 2013 E! documentary I Am Britney Jean.

But it sounds like Britney’s fans probably shouldn’t get their hopes up when it comes to the possibility of Spears inviting the cameras back into her life for a new series.

Britney admitted to the Telegraph in a candid interview ahead of the release of her eight studio album, Britney Jean, in 2013 that she wouldn’t exactly be willing to welcome the cameras back into her life and even admitted that Britney and Kevin: Chaotic was actually the worst move she’s ever made in her almost two-decade-long career.

“I would never do something like that again,” Spears stated at the time when quizzed about the 2005 reality TV series.

“Actually, that was really bad,” Britney continued, candidly admitting that the reality show “was probably the worst thing I’ve done in my career.”

Gossip Cop is also refuting OK! Magazine’s recent reality show claims, reporting that any rumors that Britney is currently planning on returning to TV with her a new reality show are “false.”
