Antisemitic Road Rage: Uber Driver Sentenced After Yelling ‘Kill All The Jews’

An Uber driver’s road rage has earned him some harsh consequences after an outburst at an Orthodox bus driver. We all get stuck in traffic occasionally, and when we want to get somewhere in a hurry, some of us get angry. However, if you’re driving for a company, you are on their time and reflect their image.

It is understandable if you are a passenger as well, if you’re in a hurry. Sometimes traffic just isn’t moving as fast as you like, and your appointment time is closing in.

The fact is that traffic pile-ups consist of dozens of other drivers who probably all want to get somewhere faster than they are. Every individual driver has a reason to be there, and in most cases they aren’t there to spite anyone. They just share a similar destination and had the bad luck of sharing the road at the same time.

Road rage is what happens when you lose perspective on that fact, and feel you have more of a need to get somewhere than the people sharing the frustration of being in the same predicament. In the case of 36-year-old Rashel Miah, this may have been a factor.

According to the Jewish Chronicle, Uber driver Rashel Miah had gotten stuck behind a Stamford Hill school bus in London. Instead of dealing with the situation in a civilized and professional manner, Rashal had stepped out of the car and called the bus driver a “Yehudi,” which in Hebrew and Arabic means Jew. While it may have been accurate, the word can also be used as an insult, which according to his follow-up words “kill all the jews,” was allegedly the case. What made it worse was that Stamford Hill is a predominantly Jewish neighborhood.

According to Algemeiner, the Uber driver’s road rage behavior was deemed in horrible taste when Judge Murray Shanks heard the case. Shanks relayed the sentence with his own choice words.

“I accept this was mainly driven by you being wrongly angry and suffering from road rage, as well as being arrogant about what you were entitled to do on the road. I hope it doesn’t indicate some underlying prejudice … If this was the other way around and Muslims were being insulted, I have a good feeling you would feel strongly. You need to understand that before you open your mouth.”

Racist behavior in any profession can be seen as reflective of the company, and usually results in severe punishment. Miah was banned from working for Uber ever again for his fit of road rage, and due to his racist and genocidal words, was ordered to 15 days of anger management sessions, 100 hours of community service, and a 26-week suspended sentence.

The law works the other way as well, if you’re a passenger and commit a crime against the driver. Miami Doctor Anjali Ramkissoon learned this the hard way, after an allegedly drunken assault on an Uber driver due to her own road rage. The incident was filmed and posted on the internet, where it went viral and she became a target of internet hate, up to and including statements that she “should have been raped that night.”

After having been placed on administrative leave, Ramkissoon admits to have seen the video and can’t believe it was her. She has expressed shame at her actions and hopes the public can forgive her.

It is unknown if Rashel Miah is ashamed of his own words toward the Jewish bus driver, or if he will ever regain the respect of the Orthodox neighborhood his outburst occurred in. He won’t be driving for Uber again, though, proving that acting on road rage is never acceptable when you’re a professional driver.
