Did Ted Cruz Eat A Booger During The Republican Debate? Viral Video Shows Unintentionally Disgusting Moment

Ted Cruz appeared to eat a booger during Thursday night’s Republican debate, just one of the crazy moments from a debate that featured more on-stage bickering and bizarre comebacks than policy debates.

The Texas Senator may have had the most (unintentionally) gross moment of the night, as he appeared to eat a booger that dangled from his nose and eventually fell from his lip and into his mouth. The moment caught the almost immediate attention of social media, where many people shared the video and tried to figure out if they saw what they thought the did.

Aside from potentially eating his booger on live television, Ted Cruz also had some of the most memorable quips of a debate that was filled with fierce bickering among the four remaining candidates. As he was attacking Trump over an ongoing lawsuit regarding his Trump University, the real estate magnate interrupted several times, not giving Cruz a chance to finish.

Finally, after he’d had enough, Cruz responded like a kindergarten teacher chastising a student.

“Donald, learn not to interrupt,” Cruz said. “It’s not complicated. Count to 10, Donald. Count to 10.”

The two sparred again later, with Cruz again chastising Trump.

There was plenty of other drama outside of Ted Cruz eating a booger. The most surreal moment of Thursday’s Republican debate was Donald Trump’s bizarre reference to his own penis. In response to a dig from Marco Rubio that Trump had small hands, and “you know what they say about men with small hands,” Trump bragged about his manhood.

“I guarantee you there’s no problem,” Trump said (via CNN) as the audience cheered.

Ted Cruz is giving Donald Trump a run for his money in the crazy department this campaign, though not entirely intentionally. Before Thursday’s booger-eating moment, there was a poll last week from Florida showing that 36 percent of voters think he’s actually the infamous Zodiac Killer.

There has been strange speculation for the past three years that Cruz is the serial killer, who struck in the San Francisco Bay area in the late 1960s. The idea, which has become its own internet meme, dates back to a 2013 tweet joking that Cruz started a speech with, “This is Zodiac speaking…”

As Salon explained, Public Policy Polling decided to throw a question about Cruz’s potential to be the Zodiac Killer in a Florida poll.

PPP found that 38 percent of Florida voters think it’s possible that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer, with 28 percent of those voters saying they’re “just not sure.” Ten percent think he definitely is, according to the poll.

PPP is notorious for asking out-of-the-ordinary questions. A few months ago, the firm asked whether the fictional town of Agrabah from Disney’s “Aladdin” should be bombed.

The poll question got plenty of media play, even overshadowing some of the campaign itself. Now the voting bonanza of Super Tuesday following by the craziness of Thursday’s debate has kicked the sideshow that is the Republican primary into yet another gear.

With the booger eating performance behind him, Ted Cruz must now turn to the important races this weekend with voting in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Maine.
