Oscars 2016: Adele Reveals That She’s Hopes Leonardo DiCaprio Takes Home An Academy Award
Adele is #TeamLeo, guys. The record-breaking British songstress has declared that she’s fully in support of Leonardo DiCaprio winning an Oscar tonight, E! Online reports.
Adele tweeted her adoration for Leo today and revealed that she’s a huge fan of Titanic.
Good luck Leo! Everyone loves you because you’re the best. Meet me at the clock anytime bruv X pic.twitter.com/buPmIdhYyo

The clock that Adele is standing in front of in the picture is the same one that Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Jack asked Rose (Kate Winslet) to meet him at so that he could take her to a “real party.”
Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t get an Academy Award nomination for Titanic, much to the chagrin of fans worldwide. But he is nominated for The Revenant this year in the Lead Actor category, and his chances look good.
This year, DiCaprio won awards at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild for his performance in The Revenant. According to OnlineGamblin.lv, there’s a 1-in-3 chance that DiCaprio will bring home his first Oscar trophy tonight. Leo has been a favorite in the Lead Actor Category before though and he’s up against some stiff competition which includes Eddie Redmayne, Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, and Michael Fassbender. This is the fourth time Leonardo DiCaprio has received an Academy Award nomination in a career that’s been punctuated by stellar acting performances.
In The Revenant, Leo plays real-life 18th century frontiersman, Hugh Glass, who was left for dead by his own hunting team and mauled by a bear. The film was directed by Alejandro Inarritu who is also up for a Best Director Academy Award, and won the award last year for Birdman.
This year, the Oscars are very controversial. When the Academy Award nominations were released this year, people soon realized that all of the nominees for acting awards were white. This led to the creation of the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite and a prolonged backlash against the Academy. Actors like Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have even pledged to boycott the ceremony tonight

As the Huffington Post reports, Oscars 2016 host Chris Rock is expected to address the #OscarsSoWhite controversy tonight and that the Academy welcomes it. Rock has been tweeting some cryptic tweets about what viewers can expect from his stint as host.

He also called this year’s Academy Awards The White BET Awards, via Twitter, in the past. Rock faced pressure this year to boycott the ceremony but he’s never been one to shy away from controversy; he includes it in his act.

People are still critiquing the Oscars’ lack of racial diversity with the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
Every time I type #Oscars on Twitter, I get a little Academy Award. IT’S THE ONLY WAY A PERSON OF COLOR WILL GET AN OSCAR THIS YEAR.

Just a reminder that the only people to get nominated for Straight out of Compton were the white writers. :/ #OscarsSoWhite

#OscarsSoWhite: only one Asian nominee in past decade (¼ -Filipina Hailee Steinfeld)…and Asians are only 4 billion of the world’s 7 billion.

According to The Daily Mail, Chris Rock tested some Academy Awards material at a comedy club recently and the jokes were on Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock claimed that the reason Will Smith and his wife chose to boycott the ceremony was because his role in Concussion was denied an Oscar nomination.
“If he wants it all about merit, can we complain about the $20 million he got for ‘Wild, Wild, West,'” said Rock.
Jada Pinkett Smith wasn’t spared either
“Jada Pinkett Smith boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rhianna’s panties,” Rock quipped. “You can’t boycott something no one invited you to.”
