Selena Gomez Speaks Out Against Kanye West For Taylor Swift Lyric: ‘She’s Killing It And Always Has Been’

Selena Gomez is a true friend. Us Weekly reports that Gomez has come out in support of her bestie, Taylor Swift, after Kanye West dissed her in a song from his new album, The Life of Pablo. Kanye had this to say of Taylor in the song, which is called “Famous.”

“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why, I made that b*tch famous / God d*mn / I made that b*tch famous.”

When Selena was asked about the lyric on Sirius XM Hits 1, she insisted that Taylor Swift made Taylor Swift famous and Kanye had nothing to do with it.

“Everybody has their own opinion,” Selena said during the interview. “At the end of the day, you can just do what you do.”

“She’s killing it and she kind of always has been,” Gomez continued.

Taylor Swift will be sitting next to Selena Gomez at the Grammys!

Selena isn’t the only person from Taylor Swift’s squad who disapproved of the Kanye West lyric. According to E! Online, Taylor’s brother, Austin Swift, made a video of himself on Instagram throwing out a pair of Yeezy Addidas sneakers.

“Getting a head start on some spring cleaning,” he wrote in the caption of the post. “Here we go.”

Gigi Hadid, another member of Taylor Swift’s squad of BFFs caught some heat for attending the Yeezy Season 3 show, where The Life of Pablo was streamed for the first time. Gigi Hadid is also best friends with Kendall Jenner who was there to support her sister’s husband.

Hadid insisted that her appearance at the show does not mean that she supports Kanye and his Taylor Swift diss.

Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid aren’t the only famous people who are being supportive of Taylor Swift.

Jamie King, who asked Taylor Swift to be the godmother to her son, took down a Tumblr post about Yeezy Season 3. She replaced it with a tweet expressing loyalty to Swift, E! Online reports.

“I’m so sad right now & disappointed right now. I stand by my sister. Always,” she wrote.

One surprising voice of support on the Taylor Swift side has come from Katy Perry. Although there’s been some “bad blood” between the Perry and Swift, Hollywood Life reports that Perry is totally team Taylor on this one.

“Katy will never see eye to eye with Taylor and they will share barbs back and forth on each other either by songs or behind closed doors but Katy feels what Kanye did was really low class,” an inside source reportedly told Hollywood Life.

The source went on to add that Katy sympathizes with Taylor having to deal with this at such a busy time in her life. She [Katy Perry] “feels bad that Taylor has to deal with the nonsense that he brought to things, especially on such an important weekend,” the source added. Taylor Swift will be performing at the Grammy Awards and she’s nominated in several big categories including Album Of The Year.

Kanye later said that Taylor Swift knew about the lyric before the Yeezy Season 3 show and that she thought it was funny. However, as E! Online reports, a rep for Taylor Swift has said that that is incorrect.

“Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message,” her publicist said via a statement to E! News. “Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that b**ch famous.'”
