WWE Rumors: Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Or Rey Mysterio To Return To WWE In Time For ‘WrestleMania 32’

With less than two months to go until WrestleMania 32, WWE may need to do something huge and unexpected in order to make the Dallas event as big as they want it to be. That being said, the injuries to top superstars have caused WWE to call a lot of audibles, and it could mean bringing back an old name or two from the past. Currently, the possibility of having Kurt Angle, Bill Goldberg, or Rey Mysterio return in time for April 3 isn’t as out of the question as you may think.

Injuries to John Cena, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Nikki Bella, Randy Orton, and others have really hurt the roster. Furthering things and making them even more complicated is the abrupt retirement of Daniel Bryan that many knew was going to be coming.

Something needs to be done, and there needs to be a spark of interest in WWE. That’s why there are three big names that could be brought in, and even just one would build up WrestleMania 32 fire in a big way.

Kurt Angle is taking a year-long break from the world of professional wrestling, or so he says, and it’s already started. He has finished up all of his TNA commitments, and has recently said that he’s not retiring as so many may think, and returning to WWE is always an option.

For his first post-TNA event, Angle is already returning to the ring even though he said he wanted to take a year off. He’ll be competing for a promotion called UR Fight, and he’ll be taking on Rey Mysterio at an event in the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona, live on Mar. 20.

It’s an interesting event that will also have Roy Jones Jr. boxing a fan, Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn in an MMA bout, and Chael Sonnen vs. Michael Bisping in a “grappling” battle. As for Angle and Mysterio, the site states that it is “one final match” with a blockbuster announcement coming soon.

Bill Goldberg is a complete and total free agent without any type of commitments on his plate that would allow him to return to WWE immediately. Not only has he had conversations with Triple H and WWE over the course of the past year, but there have been a number of teases as well.

The latest tease is that Christian Examiner is saying Goldberg is going to be on the roster for the “WWE 2K17” video game to be released later this year. When asked about it, Goldberg never gave much of a response in either confirmation or denial.

With that, it does seem to be quite interesting that WWE would include him (possibly) in the video game if they aren’t going to do more work with Goldberg. The same kind of thing happened with Sting, and well, that debut in WWE finally took place.

Rey Mysterio left WWE on good terms and the door appeared to be always open in case he decided to return. After AAA fell behind on payments for the superstar, he has now decided to hold out on performing them anymore. He did appear in season two of Lucha Underground, but may not make it to the third season.

The third season was set to tape in the fall, but it is now rumored to go into production in March for a September premiere. Sports Keeda states that Mysterio is set to return to WWE once he finishes his obligations and commitments to Lucha Underground, but when would that be?

The biggest wonder is if Mysterio is going to actually work the season 3 tapings for Lucha Underground or just be done and head back to WWE. Either way, he could be done before WrestleMania 32 on April 3, and still return in time for the event.

WrestleMania 32 is going to be a big event no matter what, but it’s obviously hurting with the injuries and issues that have come about. WWE making a big move like the return of Kurt Angle, Bill Goldberg, or Rey Mysterio could in fact save the huge pay-per-view and get things back on track.
