Rapper Chingy Walks Back Donald Trump Endorsement Upon Learning About Racist Statements

Rapper Chingy was pulled back into the public eye on Friday when he tweeted a Donald Trump endorsement that enraged many of his fans.

After reading an article where Donald’s hawkish stance on terrorism and promise to maintain Medicare were highlighted, Chingy felt moved to publicly state his support for Trump.

While disbelief poured in over the perceived Donald endorsement, Chingy’s first response was to deny that he had intended to get behind Trump at all in the first place.

From the original tweet, it appears that Chingy admires Donald for his business skills. As Chingy later revealed, he was apparently unaware of the controversial statements that Trump has made about a variety of minority groups. That may seem odd considering the intense media attention Donald’s “Hispanics are racists” comment got, but the hip-hop artist says that he was completely unaware of such remarks, reported Billboard.

“I didn’t know about some of the negative things I he had to say about some of the races out here and about the hip-hop community. I didn’t know a lot of the negative things, I was kind of commenting off reading that article and reading some of the good things that he said, so that’s kind of where my comments came from.”

After his Trump support raised eyebrows, Chingy admitted that he was not paying close attention to the Republican primaries. He did, however, promise to keep a closer eye on the race.

“Every now and then I see some of it on TV. I’m not familiar with exactly how it’s going down. And that’s another reason why I didn’t know a lot of the negative things he said. Like a lot of people comparing him to Hilter and stuff and a lot of those things, I didn’t know these things. So when I seen the good he said, I was like, ‘Oh that’s cool that Donald be trying to do that.’ “

Chingy, like many of Trump’s voter base, seems to have been seduced by the concept of a businessman taking the reins of the American government. Chingy argued that Donald had proved himself a competent leader for a nation racked by debt.

“I think everybody would agree that we want somebody who’s business savvy to run this country, seeing as this country is in an $18 trillion debt. So somebody has to have the mind frame to know how to lift us out of this. So when I say I wanted a business person who knows business, who’s business intelligent, and of course we all know Trump from being a successful businessman. But in no way do I endorse him.”

Much of the outrage over Chingy’s supposed endorsement of Donald came from disgust over the GOP frontrunner’s comments about African-Americans. Trump has rubbed many people the wrong way by saying things like, “the blacks love me” and denying that he could be racist because one the winners of his show, The Apprentice, was black. Some of Donald’s most divisive comments were published by former employee John O’Donnell in his book Trumped!; remarks that Trump later told Playboy were probably true, reported Politico.

“I have black guys counting my money. … I hate it… The only guys I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes all day… Laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that.”

Who is Chingy? No idea but he likes Donald Trump.
