Kanye West And Kendrick Lamar Collaboration About Kim Kardashian Gets Wildly Mixed Reviews

Kanye West has dropped a new single called “No More Parties in L.A.” The New York Daily News has the story.

“Rapper Kanye West dropped a head-bobbing new single, ‘No More Parties in L.A.,’ on Monday in advance of next month’s highly anticipated album, ‘Swish.’ The polarizing artist teamed up with fellow hip-hop superstar Kendrick Lamar for the fast-paced track — marking the first time the two industry icons have rapped alongside each other in a song.”

The song is about West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, and how she keeps dragging him to parties in Los Angeles. In the song, Kanye implies that his new focus is taking care of his family.

“Please baby no more parties in L.A./When did I become A-List/I wasn’t even on a list,” Kanye West complains on the new single.

Pitchfork really seems to like Kanye West’s new song.

“And the fact that a six-minute song with a monster Kendrick verse and a painterly Madlib beat goes by in the blink of an eye reinforces how revitalized Kanye is after a spotty 2015, dropping these songs weekly (although this one was three days late) as if to prove he can still do it.”

Music Times also gives the song a thumbs-up.

“After not delivering any new music on G.O.O.D Music Fridays, Yeezy dropped ‘No More Parties in LA’ and it’s safe to say it was worth the wait and that the old West we know and love is back.”

The reviewer, Lindsay Haddox, notes that the combined talents is what makes the song, which contains lengthy and witty verses, work. She also likes the fact that Mr. West includes a few lines about the dangers of texting and driving.

Kanye West usually receives good reviews from music critics. But, when it comes to the general public, things are quite different. Most of the Twitter response to Kanye West’s new song has been pretty negative.

Kanye West’s fans will hear his full album SWISH on February 11. According to the Independent, Mr. West may also record a David Bowie tribute album, which many aren’t too happy about.

“Kanye West is reportedly threatening to release a David Bowie covers album after discovering the late icon’s repertoire following his unexpected death last week…This is only a rumor at present, with nothing confirmed by either the rapper or anyone connected with him,” writes reporter Jess Denham.

The rumor has produced a lot of outrage and even a petition at 38 Degrees, a UK advocacy site.

“David Bowie was one of the single most important musicians of the 20th and 21st century, it would be a sacrilege to let it be ruined by Kanye West,” reads the mission statement of the petition. Some of the people who signed it were pretty angry.

“David Bowie was a unique and extremely talented artist, nothing to do with Kanye’s music or the way he is exposed in the public,” wrote Venia P.

“Please, God, no!” states Ella S.

Twitter has gone crazy about the idea as well.

Kanye West has yet to comment about the David Bowie cover rumors. No matter what anybody says about West, he is certainly laughing himself all the way to the bank.
