Zac Efron Ditching ‘High School Musical’ Reunion To Avoid Vanessa Hudgens?

Is Zac Efron skipping out on the upcoming High School Musical reunion to avoid spending time with
ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens?

The Walt Disney Company announced on January 17 that the cast of the Disney Channel’s uber-successful franchise will be reuniting to celebrate the 10th anniversary of High School Musical, but revealed that Efron will be the only main cast member not appearing in person.

The company instead announced that the actor, who played Troy Bolton in all three High School Musical movies, will “join the telecast in a pre-taped message to High School Musical fans,” but did not explicitly reveal why the star was skipping the reunion.

However, many fans are speculating that the actor opted to skip out on Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, and Monique Coleman to avoid spending time with his ex.

Though neither Vanessa nor Zac have publicly spoken out about exactly why Efron opted to miss out on the High School Musical get together, airing on The Disney Channel on January 20, Zac and Vanessa famously dated for 5 years during filming of the popular Disney franchise before splitting in 2010.

“EXHIBIT B: the cast has never fully reunited. Zac didn’t go to Ashley’s wedding bc of [Vanessa] Both didn’t attend Descendents premiere,” Twitter user @danieelacova wrote, while @Manylovesfood noted that Efron “only follows ashley and corbin on twitter [sic].”

Efron’s decision to skip the High School Musical reunion comes just months after Vanessa revealed in a candid interview with the New York Times that dating her High School Musical co-star during the height of High School Musical‘s fame made her a “mean” girl.

“I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up,” Vanessa told the site of her former relationship with Zac. “Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares. Then I realised that’s not what that’s about. ‘Spread the love, be a good person, they support you, be nice.’ ”

But while Vanessa is keeping mum on Zac Efron’s big High School Musical reunion ditch now, Vanessa and Zac’s co-star Ashley Tisdale didn’t stay quite so quiet.

Following the big reunion, which filmed earlier this week, Efron’s former co-star, Ashley Tisdale, appeared to call out the We Are Your Friends actor out on social media for skipping the High School Musical event, though she later appeared to deny her remarks were specifically aimed at the actor.

“It’s so important that throughout success we remember where we came from. Always be grateful and always remain good people,” Tisdale wrote on Twitter on January 18, which had fans believing she was slamming Efron for not attending the reunion special.

However, after the tweet got fans whipped up into a bit of frenzy, Ashley clarified her remarks, writing on the 140 character site, “Please don’t take my last tweet out of context. It’s strictly about my experience yesterday and how much I [love] them,” alongside a throwback High School Musical photo that included Efron.

But while it appears that Zac won’t be seen with his former High School Musical cast mates any time soon, it turns out that the actor will narrowly miss his ex by one day later this week when both Efron and Hudgens make scheduled appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

According to Headline Planet, Hudgens will be stopping by the late night talk show on January 20 to discuss her upcoming project, Grease: Live, while Efron is currently expected to visit the show on January 21 to promote the film Dirty Grandpa.
