Did Patrick Dempsey Leave ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Because Of An On-Set Affair?
Patrick Dempsey has moved on from Grey’s Anatomy, but fans are still asking why. And now a rumor has surfaced that Dempsey was let go because he was having an affair with a Grey’s Anatomy staffer, which also reportedly led to the breakdown of his marriage. But Dempsey has still been seen around town with soon to be ex wife Jillian Fink, as they have decided not to let the affair destroy their family.
According to The Inquisitr, Patrick Dempsey has gone back to his roots since leaving Grey’s Anatomy, and returned to the big screen. Dempsey will play one of Bridget Jones’ love interests in the new Bridget Jones’ Diary movie. Dempsey and Colin Firth will both be vying for the attention of Renee Zellweger in this final installation of the Bridget Jones series.

OK Magazine reported that Patrick Dempsey was asked to leaved Grey’s Anatomy because he was having a disruptive affair with a staffer.
“Patrick, who played McDreamy on the ABC hit, was fired from the show after getting involved with a younger woman on set,” according to a source on the show. “Dempsey, who denied reports of the affair, and Fink were married for 15 years and cited irreconcilable differences.”
Dempsey’s affair was common knowledge to the cast and crew, and it became a distraction.
“Patrick’s affair with the staffer on the show began last August,” the show source said. “It was obvious to everyone Patrick was [sleeping with] her,” a source told Radar Online. “It got very messy and emotional on set and became a huge liability.”
E!online said that Patrick Dempsey was seen this week with his estranged wife and kids at the Marie Claire Image Maker Awards where Jillian Dempsey was being honored for her skill as a make-up artist.
“There are makeup artists, and then there are true artists. That’s what it takes to create an image. Jill falls under the latter,” Stewart, 25, told the magazine. “There are few of those in this business.”
The Dempseys announced last year that they were ending their relationship.
“It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage,” they told E! News in a statement last January. “Our primary concern remains the well being of our children, and we ask with gratitude that you respect our family’s privacy at this very sensitive time.”
But leaving Grey’s Anatomy turned out to be the best thing for his career according to Patrick Dempsey, as he is happy to be back in the movies.
“It’s completely reinvigorated me,” he told Entertainment Weekly in December 2015. “I’ve enjoyed it immensely, getting back to something that has a beginning, middle, and end. It’s just a completely different approach. With Grey’s, you’re just grinding it out. In this instance, you take the time to get through things.”
And Dempsey is hoping that fans will get to see more of him on the big screen, as he hopes that the romantic comedy is returning.
“So, I would be open to that and I’m known for that. And that’s OK. But I certainly would love to do a thriller. I would love to do something that’s an action movie.”

The name of the staffer on Grey’s Anatomy has never been released, and Patrick Dempsey has hoped it is behind him.
