‘Diablo 3’ Patch 2.4 Now Live, Discover Greyhollow Island, Complete Set Dungeons, And More

Greyhollow Island, expanded zones, Set Dungeons, Empowered Rifts, and more are now live in Diablo 3. The latest patch to the action RPG from Blizzard Entertainment adds several new features, UI updates, and over 50 new legendary items to the game. Additionally, a new Season is now underway on PC, many class changes are now available, and a few bugs are now rectified.

This major patch to Diablo 3 introduces a whole new Adventure Mode zone for players to discover. Greyhollow Island is steeped in mystery with a new storyline just waiting to be uncovered. Players can head to Act V and find the new zone near the top of the map. Other zones are also expanded with patch 2.4. Travel to the Ruins of Sescheron to see even more of that area, or visit the Royal Quarters of Leoric’s Manor.

Of course, Greyhollow Island is just one new feature in the latest patch. According to the official site and patch notes, other aspects of the patch include Set Dungeons and Empowered Rifts. Set Dungeons are available to characters wearing a full set of six-piece armor. Each Set Dungeon is static and designed to specifically challenge the wearer of a particular set. Players can start this challenge by wearing a full set of six-piece armor and travelling Leoric’s Library to start their trial. Empowered Rifts are a new opportunity to upgrade Legendary Gems in Diablo 3. For a varying amount of gold, players can now open a Greater Rift as an Empowered Rift. The cost is based on the tier level of the rift opened, and upon completion, players will have a fourth chance to upgrade a gem.

The buff bar in patch 2.4 is improved, with the removal of static buffs and the addition of a collapsible buff bar with full buff information. Moreover, the PC version of Diablo 3 welcomes “action combat,” with new bonuses for destroying items, killing enemies, or using traps. Additionally, the latest Season is now ongoing with a new Season Rebirth feature that lets players keep using the same character from Season to Season. Items are, of course, stripped from the character at the end of a Season, and mailed to the non-Seasonal characters with Season Rebirth.

Seasonal content is not available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, though. Although many aspects of the patch are exactly the same, that does not apply for the Season feature. There are separate patch notes for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, too. Most of what is present in those patch notes is similar or identical to what is presented in the PC patch notes; however, it may still be wise to check out those notes if that is the preferred Diablo 3 platform.

The latest patch also adds a number of new legendary items to Diablo 3. As the Inquisitr reported, over 50 new legendary items are now available in the game. Some of the gear is brand new, while other pieces are existing legendary items with new legendary affixes. A few sets for select classes are now updated as well. For instance, the Demon Hunter’s Shadow’s Mantle set is now a six-piece set that increases the character’s damage with a melee weapon. It also increases the Demon Hunter’s Impale ability and makes the Shadow Power ability last indefinitely.

Other sets are also improved with patch 2.4 to Diablo 3. One set for each class is now improved for better results. For instance, the Barbarian’s Might of the Earth set provides a six-piece set bonus of 1,200 percent increased damage to many of the Barbarian’s abilities. Finally, two existing sets are redesigned in patch 2.4. The Legacy of Raekor set for Crusaders now focuses on the Furious Charge ability, increasing ability damage and changing its utility if it only hits one enemy.

Diablo 3‘s patch 2.4 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in the Americas. Again, Seasons are not supported on console. Players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will not see any Seasonal content on their systems.
