On December 29, 2015, Jordan revealed other exciting news to his fans on Facebook. In a lengthy post, Smith announced that he would be singing the National Anthem at the Winter Classic, and at the U.K. vs. Ole Miss game on Saturday at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. Jordan will sing before the game starts at 7:00 p.m.

“I will also be singing the National Anthem at the UK Basketball game this Saturday, Jan. 2nd, at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. I have always been a huge Cats fan, so singing at this game is another dream come true!” Smith wrote at the time. “Lots more big things are in store for 2016 and I can’t wait to share them with you. Stay tuned for more info on what’s to come!”

Since winning The Voice, Jordan Smith has been very busy. On December 21, his home town of Harlan, Kentucky celebrated his homecoming with a welcome parade, and he was named a Kentucky Colonel and an honorary Harlan County coal miner.

“It’s going to be very special to get to my little house nestled in the mountains,” Smith said prior to returning to his home.

“He represented Harlan County and Kentucky extremely well,” Harlan County Judge Executive Dan Mosley said just hours before Smith was crowned the winner of the singing competition. “Eastern Kentucky has been in a bad situation as a result of the economy, and this has given them hope.”

Many viewers were hooked on Jordan when he sang his version of the Christmas song, “Mary Did You Know.” His performance was amazing, and led him to winning the hearts of millions. Surprisingly, Jordan’s coach Adam Levine had originally wanted him to sing a different song but decided to trust Smith’s instinct, which ended up winning him the competition.

“He [Levine] wanted me to do I’ll Be Home for Christmas, which was on a list of songs I had submitted that I wanted to do on the show,” Smith said. “And I love that song. But as things progressed, I knew this was going to be one of the last times I sang on the show, and this is what I really wanted to do. He trusted me on that, which I really appreciated it.”

Smith also sang, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” which was also a huge hit among viewers and Adam’s idea.

“I had put it on my list, because I wanted to submit a hymn,” Smith said. “But I hadn’t really thought about it. Then he suggested it and suggested the really stripped down performance of it. I really appreciated that he wanted me to have that chance to express who I am.”

Jordan Smith’s CD is now available at all Walmart stores, and his songs can be downloaded on iTunes.
