Happy birthday to Jon Voight, who turns 77 years old today. Born in Yonkers, NY, on Dec. 29, 1938, Jon Voight is much more than Angelina Jolie’s dad (how a younger generation is inclined to identify him). He is also an Oscar-winning actor (he was actually nominated for four Academy Awards) and a four-time Golden Globe winner, having been nominated for 10 Golden Globes, according to his IMDB page. Jon Voight has two children, Angelina Jolie and James Haven, and has had a lengthy Hollywood film career. Some of Jon Voight’s most notable films include Midnight Cowboy, Coming Home, Deliverance, The Odessa File, and The Champ. Those new to Jon Voight’s body of work may want to begin by watching Midnight Cowboy (1969) followed by his Oscar-wining performance in Coming Home (1978). Jon Voight’s career spans six decades, and he has films currently scheduled for release well into 2017. His fans nationwide have taken to social media networks to wish the actor a happy birthday. Angelina Jolie is not on social media networks, and has not publicly wished her dad a happy birthday online.

Jon Voight married twice. He married his first wife Lauri Peters in 1962. A multi-talented actress, Peters portrayed the role of Liesl Von Trapp in the 1959 Broadway musical The Sound of Music. It was on Broadway that she met Voight, who had portrayed the Nazi youth Rolfe. Lauri Peters remains active in theater and music and has her own YouTube channel. Peters and Voight divorced in 1967. The couple had no children. It would be with his second wife Marcheline Brand that he would have children.

One look at Marcheline Bertrand (May 9, 1950-Jan. 27, 2007) and it is stunning to see how much the couple’s daughter Angelina Jolie-Pitt resembles her mother. Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand were married from 1971-1980, though they had separated in 1976. The couple’s son James Haven Voight was born on May 11, 1973, and daughter Angelina Jolie Voight was born on June 4, 1975.

Angelina Jolie-Pitt is known as a great beauty and is often the subject of “plastic surgery” claims and “lip injection” rumors. One look at Angelina Jolie-Pitt’s parents Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand together should be enough to silence the rumor mill. Angelina Jolie-Pitt is the spitting image of her mother, with characteristics and the face shape of her father. She clearly inherited her parents’ good looks and her father’s acting talent as both she and Jon Voight are Oscar winners.
